Compiling information on the lost art of boxing starting with ancient egypt
hey, I spent all morning writing this, sourced it all. please have a read. I hope to eventually cover the entire timeline of boxing, and learn more along the way. the goal is not just history, but to find applications for the modern fighter to replicate. I am open to suggestion, as this is a work in...

some good insight.
so the glove tear is a myth? I always thought Dundee admitted to this. is this not true?
totally not underestimating Ali's recuperative abilities, he showed this time and time again. I will say this did look the most hurt I ever saw him, very rare to see...

In my opinion Harold isn't slick enough and get's knocked out. I also think Moore can't fight well enough on the backfoot, he's got 130+ KOs for a reason, but it's not something useful in a fighter with Marciano.
If you want ill make a list soon of who I think has the chance to beat Marciano....Last edited by them_apples; Today, 02:15 PM.

I see Tunney as being more clear headed than Ali was. this is my own observation and personal opinion. He may have been turned off for a second though, you are right about that.
let me rephrase: he wasn't jello legged...

Boxers who were superior in their later careers than as young men. (list)
Bernard Hopkins (1988-2016)
Turned pro at 23 after prison, known for discipline and defensive mastery.
Peaked late due to rigorous lifestyle and mental toughness.
Became oldest champion at 46, breaking his own record again at 48 and 49.

He actually weathered the storms pretty good even when he did fight rocky. Marciano missed well over 100 punches, Moore just wasnâÂÂt strong enough to hold him off.
indeed maybe a 35 year old Archie, with a bit more speed probably would have been able to land some better shots...Last edited by them_apples; Today, 10:54 AM.

Anyone who started late and was motivated late in their career. Someone should make a list...DeeMoney likes this.

It sounds like Mcvey was never really in the fight - but his durability and strength made him hard for Johnson to get rid of. Thats my take - dragging the fight on longer....Willow The Wisp likes this.

Henry Cooper vs Ali
Because cooper was lighter than Ali, and Alis thing was speed - Cooper actually gave Ali a lot of trouble in fact - it looks like he knocked Ali out.
If anyone is going to respond to this thread:
1: rewatch it right now - don’t go off memory
2: look at...

Not even trying to agitate but it’s all actually believable. Floyd talks like this in interviews. He openly says stuff like this without even saying it. So it’s easy to spot. And then you have everyone else emulating him after wards. Like at all the gifts Canelo got? The dudes lost 3-4 times to...

Its true archie got better as time got on, he still probably peaked before he met Marciano - but earlier footage of him he does not show the same savvy. I think his obsession is what made him good. His skill set in his 40s was superb, even if he lacked the conditioning....

nah, it went right over his head, Johnsons legs gave way before anything came into contact. Look at the timing of the fall. Look how absurd Johnson looks trying to appear hurt. He’s acting, nothing landed...Bronson66 likes this.

Ah now I remember, I used an early version of chat gpt and posted the results as fact. I admitted it immediately but Bronson kept that peddle pushed right to the floor anyways
did anyone figure out if Langford had huge Ko power at 147?...Mr Mitts likes this.
