Essentially the same size by that time, though proportioned differently. Floyd wanted to box and suddenly leap out with a lightning hook. With all respect to Cus, Patty probably was not coached well for that match; he showed no evidence of creative coaching for the few moments he lasted. I'd have to...Anomalocaris likes this.

Too many good points to point to. I trust your analysis. Johnson was a showman, Joe a mummy of the white man. I think that would have bothered Johnson. Johnson too proud to look forward, Joe too controlled to reach back.
Anyway, I believe your key point was that they were both fighting...Last edited by Mr Mitts; Today, 06:41 AM.

Sorry to have provoked you, Marge. Was not my intention. What I know is Bronny's 'facts' are usually reliable and I have seen him cite a lot of books. To me it is not a contest to see who can cite more books.
In point of fact, sir, I do read a lot. Just not on boxing very much. I would...

Uh, or how about he was just telling the truth as he saw it? He was probably jealous of Louis's popularity, if anything, not his stance. I personally believe Louis is overrated too.
His trainers and managers were fighting hard for a good image, and that specifically meant staying away from...Last edited by Mr Mitts; Yesterday, 07:08 PM.

Lamotta has a chance against anyone. Anyone who fights Lamotta's fight is going to lose. He might very well beat the likes of Canelo and GGG. I believe he would beat Ho'kins as well, who carried only a mediocre punch. He kills the likes of Pender or Archer, who were average MW champs.max baer

Ali or Patterson, who is faster? Patterson's single punch was fast but his combinations were not as fast as Ali's, who used his blazing hand speed and combinations more consistently.Anomalocaris likes this.

There is plenty of dispute on Braxton's listed height; it goes all the way from 5'5" to 5'7". People like to exaggerate. Height is one the most played with statistics anyway. I settled on...Last edited by Mr Mitts; 04-15-2025, 11:53 PM.

As I am reminded here a lot fast guys could potentially be on the list.
Is Costello as fast as Saoul Mamby? Patterson very fast too, especially at lower weights.
This left hook is rather blinding

All true. Even Camacho could have a rerun at this. Also someone pointed out Roy Jones. He was only absent because an old man's memory often fails.
On another answer: I feel Robinson in his heyday was probably about as fast as Hearns in his--not quite fast enough to make this list, but...

That bout with blood spurting like a fountain is about what I would expect.
I like the idea of wrist support. Very practical. Experience taught them pigskin was no good.
So whose boxing was more brutal, Greek or Roman? Off the top of my head I would have guessed Roman, but...Last edited by Mr Mitts; 04-14-2025, 06:34 PM.

I like the recognition on Joe Brown. He is way under-recognized. I remember seeing him fight live him on TV.

I don't even find that Sugar fought Davey Boy Green. Are you it wasn't some other guy going by Boy?...

Only man to beat Robby in his prime. Not an easy foe for anyone. Besides that he is a contender for best chin ever, along with Chuvalo and a few others.

I will begin by picking your post apart, though Ivich covered most of it. The ratings, the odds, the recent record, are barely related to reality and mean very little. How good the fighter still is right now, means everything, not who he was once upon a time.
Everyone you mentioned has...Bronson66 likes this.
