- - Been refuted by me umpteen x. Early on Joe was managed by , , his black mgrs who crafted Joe's schedule to win the title that didn't include black contenders, but more lucrative and well known former champs. They even arranged his first marriage.

Towards the end of his career when he was near shot, he beat Bivins handily, yet earlier after beating Schmeling the 2nd time in a grudge match, he gave great Black LH Champ John Henry Lewis a title shot that no doubt his mgrs approved.

I agree with everything except I think it was Uncle Mike Jacobs making the money decisions. Black and Roxborought were responsible for keeping Louis out of trouble, it was Jacobs who was dealing with the money people.

For the record. I don't think it was a duck of black fighters. I think the climb to the title (and some good money) came in knocking out five HW champions. There just weren't any black fighters on that list.
