Is it really less common in footballers? Or just less publicized?
Any team player is part of a billionaire outfit that does not want the publicity.
But fact is I can read an article every week about some football player who did something a 9 year old would know not to do. Hit somebody, drove too fast, tore a place up, raped a gal....on and on.
And why is it always a footballer and not a baseballer and only occasionally a basketballer, never a tennis player, etc., etc.
The ones getting bopped in the head constantly (footballers and boxers) are the ones doing the most violence outside of their sports. It really doesn't sound like rocket science, we probably just do not want it to be true so have begun to specialize in clever denials and rationalizations.

Mental illness is such a broad term. Guys like Mike Tyson, and Tyson Fury were diagnosed with depression. Depression is classified as a mental illness, but we could classify most of earth's population with mental illness at one time or another. And while mental illness is said to be incurable v, many people diagnosed have come out of it. I submit that may substance abuse was the culprit more than mental illness. I am of course not a doctor.

How does one define mental illness? To me, it is to act so far outside the norm that you become harmful (physically or emotionally) to yourself or those who try to engage with you.max baer likes this.
