What Boxer Fell Hardest From Genius Status at First Career to Sad Pathetic Punchbag in their 30's and 40's

Who came along like a whirlwind and everyone was blown away by their skills and thought they'd never lose but then later in their career became a joke. what absolute great ended up been badly beaten and lost is all tarnishing their golden beginnings.
who had the greatest fall from grace. ali, iron mike? joe louis?

Nobody had a bigger fall from grace than Roy Jones Jr.

Dude would be considered the GOAT, if he had retired after Ruiz.

Hell, Mike Tyson is still Mike Tyson in the eyes of much of the public, even at 60 years old, but Roy Jones's reputation is just nowhere near where it was in the '90s.

Max, your words are too harsh.

For me it was Livingstone Bramble. Poised for a big fight with Camacho, he is exposed by Rosario and then never regains his 'awesome' status, becoming a 'name' to climb over.

Always came to fight, and actually quite kind and a respectful man.

This is actually a great pick. Ironically Bramble really had no big wins before Mancini, but he just happened to have the right style to beat him and that thrust him into the spotlight. As a younger man and not into the history or the sport and rankings like I am today I too thought he was the next great thing. When Louie Veader beat Bramble in Providence I thought that meant great things for him. I didn't realize how far off Bramble had fallen and how hyped he really was. Good fighter who fell hard.

He beat Kenny '****-****' Bogner in the big New Jersey fight off. They crossed venues a few times at Ice World in Totawa N.J. Much local attention and anticipation.

The Duvas (Bramble) worked out of Paterson N.J.

A subsequent series of KOs got him his shot at the WBA title as a mandatory.

Then he screwed up the Camacho-Mancini fight everyone thought was coming.

I remember thinking back then that Pazienza and Bramble would end up fighting. Both have the Duva and Totawa ice world connection and both were draws during that time. They probably kept them apart as to not hurt the earning power of either fighter if I had to guess.

RJJ was my pick too, but as he has already been mentioned, what about another fighter who peaked about the same time, Prince Naseem Hamed.

Maybe not as high up as Jones, but man, one loss and dude just disappeared. I guess he really didnt need boxing, so it was easy for him, but he went from being HBO’s glamour boy to out if the sport, all while still in his 20s.
