1980's movies ******!

Nightmare On Elm Street is a great film, and there's nothing wrong with the acting.

If special effects are such a big deal to you, then you should stick to Transformers or whatever.

The fact is that the further back in time you go, the less realistic the effects are going to be. If that's such a big deal to you, you should've made clear that impressive CGI was part of your judging critera from the start...

I got nothing against poor special effects but that scene is so unrealisticly ****** it's beyond me how it can be called a classic. I love the first Halloween, GREAT movie and that movie is even older than Nightmare on Elm street, I had nothing against the special effects in that one.. But those scenes.. Damn.. How can you not roll around on the floor laughing when watching those scenes?

They had so many poor movies back then it's unbelievable.. Movies back then was so bad friday the 13th and back to the future is actually consideren a classic from back then...
And this being a boxingforum and all.. Don't bother saying Rocky 4.. Serious.

They didn't suck.. They are just dated.. and if you were born after the 80's or were just a wee kid.. you probably can't relate to what's going on.. I am like that with 70's movies and before..

I admit, 80s movies werent that great in comparrison to newer movies..

A few things about them, there was always an antoganist, but ever notice the antagonist was OVERLY obnoxious? And the movies always ended with some sort of triumphant moment, like there always had to be some sort of contest, be it a football game, car chase, fight, etc..

But, here are some 80s movies I like:

Scarface (most overrated movie ever but still good)

Sure, if karate kid and back to the future can reach the top 10, the movies must really have been something back then..

If those movies came out today nobody would bother.. IMDB would've ranked it 5,5 at most.. But because they were the best of a weak era they're rated much higher.. Doesn't really make them spectalur by todays standard.

Back To The Future is a classic, son.

Lethal Weapon and Die Hard still kick ass too.

Yeah, more original movies made then.....you see how they are remaking everything from the 80s so far? IMO its not that dated to where u need to make new versions of them, they should remake movies from the 70s and before.

Also, Breakin and Breakin 2:Electric Bugaloo are classics ok, I see you are 19 years old so you prolly are just biased for the mid 90s late 90s..

I just believe that by todays standard most of these movies would be average at best.. serious. But because they were the best from a weak era they get that much more attention.. Okey, I may agree with a lot of the movies you posted like The Untouchables.. But I serious doubt a movie like Back To The Future or Breakfast club would be rated that high by todays standard.

People have metioned movies like pet cemetary and The Running Man .. I didn't say post any movie you might be able to sit through without killing yourself.. I said post the classic movies.. People putting up such movies in a top ten only further my beliefs in the 1980's was a weak era for the movie industry

well no ****ing duh you idiot. These movies are 20-30 years old. I think by now movies these days should make these movies look like **** with all the technology we have now with special effects. thats like me saying 1930 movies suck because they are in black and white, and why didn't they have color and all that dumb **** you are pulling off.

THE MOVIES where done in the 80's you genius. and because of that, the movie quality isn't going to be as good as recent movies.

But you have to look at it as these movies are older and most still kick ass. Like

Big Trouble in Little China- Movie is ****in Great
Karate Kid 1 & 2- movie is great because i do that style of karate

Commando- Arnold is raw
Kick Boxer- Movie is pretty good
The Predator- THIS MOVIE IS TIMELESSS
