Patterson broke off his relationship with D'Amato so he could take the Liston fight.

D'Amato refused to assoicate with (let Patterson fight) anyone who had been connected to the IBC even though it was gone by 1961.

Patterson did the right thing. Broke wIth D'Amato and took the Liston fight.

I doubt it would have made a difference but he was without D'Amato's help for the Liston goes.

Dan Florio was Patterson's trainer/cornerman for the Liston fights. He had been Patterson's trainer before D'Amato.

Great information! Cus not likely to make a difference. I will go so far as to say no style, strategy or tactic Pat could have employed would have been enough to overcome Liston. But it would be interesting to see how Cus would have "fixed" things for the rematch wouldn't it?

In 1 he came right out and tried to take command. But Liston shut that down immediately. Pat did try to move a little better in 2 but remained helpless as an abandoned chick.

I was never going for any kind of order. Personally, I might say Roy Jones--until I see or am reminded of someone faster, that is. Without actual numbers, speed becomes subjective to the observer, doesn't it. I think the same is even true for punching power category et al. A period must always follow et al. Stretched, it means "and others."

Not giving you an English lesson. I think you know, but I think quite a few others might not. Internet dictionaries fall short by miles, unless you can get one that is copied from a printed edition. Here is one that anyone who enjoys etymology might like to play with.
