By far his best win was the long forgotten Tom 'The Arsecheek' McTavish.

Who had the smallest thong in prizefight history.

      Sharkey I
      Fitzsimmons I
      Sharkey II
      Corbett I
      Hank Griffin I

Sharkey (I) his win here helped force the reluctant Fitzsimmons to face him.

Fitzsimmons (I) won him the title.

Sharkey (II) solidified his right to be called champion; left no doubt having beat the only real (white) contender available at the time.

Corbett (I) defeated his second champion. Beating a former champion always makes you look good.

Griffin (I) in only his second (recorded) fight he showed he could fight serious competition. ***

*** Not an ATG but Hank Griffin was a serious person.

        Sharkey 2x
        Fitzsimmons (first fight)
        Corbett who was washed up
Peter Jackson—while washed up, Jeffries was a novice.

Fitz was knocking every one but Jeffries out.
Corbett was 33 an in the great shape and check out his wins over HOF opponents.
Sharkey was in his absolute prime.
Ruhlin was in his prime too.
Griffin was a soild contender with a win over Jack Johnson for example.

And speaking of Jack, why are you so scared to show me his top 5 wins??? It could have to do with your Free Mason code not to talk down the past cult members?

His entire resume is old bro. It's a game of Jeff is green while fighting some greys. Throw him on bottom, replace him with Pete, doesn't really matter, Jeffries cleared out the old class.

"In summing up my fights, throughout my career, there were none, even in the championship bouts, which were harder than those with Griffiin (, and I believe that the greatest punishment I ever received in the ring was at the hands of Griffin. " - Jack Johnson

                  Final record, 29-4 Hank Griffin

Now, I think he is one of top 5 men Jeffries beat ( 5th ) when you factor in age, experience level , and working condition.

Now, you can list Jack Jonshon top 5 wins, unless you are a sack less coward as you claim to have studied the time period. Calling you out.

BTW this thread was posted as a joke rebuttal to DR Zero's,I thought I had made that plain.
The only one I can think of off the top of my head was a political cartoon from the day, showing a bawling Fitzsimmons being hauled into the ring with a crane. (A little high-tech of the industrial revolution.)

It is possible that the cartoon was mocking Fitzsimmons for avoiding Corbett, not Jeffries.

But either way Fitz was roundly accused of sitting on the title and he became unpopular enough for the cartoonists to lampoon him.

Between Corbett and Jeffries, Fitz only fought once, a walk-over against a guy making his debut (Lew Joslin).

I think it is fair to say Fitzsimmons had to be pressured into defending his title. He sat on it for over two years without defending.
