    Most Underrated Boxer of All Time?

    We always talk about the greatest of all time—Ali, Tyson, Mayweather—but what about the underrated legends? Who do you think is the most underappreciated boxer in history, and why?

    I always throw Jimmy Young in the mix...

      Ike Williams. Hardly gets spoken about today but could do it all. A dangerous challenge for any lightweight in history.

        Ricardo Lopez was pretty amazing but what held him back was his small weight class. Other than that he does get credit from boxing legends and trainers as being one of the most skilled to ever do it. But you won't hear him mentioned much in the mainstream.

          Charley Burley, perhaps.

          Personally speaking, I believe John Mugabi is rather unsung. Beyond his punching power, he was an excellent overall fighter in his prime.

            The "most" I do not know about. I do know Estaban de Jesus qualifies as underrated and under appreciated, since he was the only man to beat a prime Duran.

              Burley seems to get credit (rightly so)... However he is much more appreciated by other professionals than the fans. Mugabi was a beast! The beast!

                Joe Calzaghe. Most punters love to go with the calslappy moniker....its a bandwagon thing....but i havent seen any actual boxers come out and say that Calzaghe wasnt deserving of everything he earned. Haters gonna hate.

                  It's difficult to rate someone highly who only has 3 wins over fighters who were ranked in the Top 5 of the division in their entire career.

                    Underrated fighters historically in my opinion;

                    Reggie Johnson
                    Jose Luis Ramirez
                    Emile Griffith
                    Jose Luis Castillo
                    Carlos Ortiz

                    Top my head picks there.
