Count Carl Frampton among those bothered by the WBA sanctioning the Gervonta Davis-Leo Santa Cruz fight for versions of its 130-pound and 135-pound titles. The contracted weight limit for the Davis-Santa Cruz clash is 130 pounds, the maximum for fights in the junior lightweight division. They'll fight for Santa Cruz's WBA's "super" super featherweight title, a championship Santa Cruz won after Davis vacated it late last year to move up to the lightweight division for his most recent bout.

I don’t really blame the promotions, you have got to put the blame on the organisation. The WBA have water down their own belt. They gave Tank his belt and then brought LSC one in a new weight class against who? Promoters would get away with anything if you allow them, this is why the IBF still get a bit of props from me. WTF is this backwards interpretation. We all know they are fighting at 130.

First off, there is nothing strange about a belt holder at any weight, retaining there current belt and gaining a second belt at a different weight class. For example, Canelo and Floyd have both done this. That is what Gervonta Davis is doing and this is how boxing should work.

Where this steps outside the box is SantaCruz forced the fight at 130 but will still get access to a belt at 135. If we are honest, that is really the negotiated advantage here. Leo gets to Weight drain Davis and still get access to a neck to level belt.

So why is the article and Frampton framing it as a benefit for Davis and PBC? Davis is not gaining any advantage for trying to make a weight he couldn’t make several years back.

The 135 belt was obviously an incentive for SantaCruz to take the fight or... why would he if there wasn’t a belt on the line?

But either way, Davis certainly can put his belt on the line and choose to accept Santa Cruz’s lower weight limit.

So not only do I have to question why is this being spun from this angle? Even more importantly, why is this a big deal?

Canelo was holding the belt at 160. He was able to fight a guy who was barely ranked in the top 10 for the unearned 168 LB title against Fielding. Where was the outrage then? Clearly the outrage is rigged and not real.

You better believe this was done because Tank has no intention on making 130, This guy is going to come in at 135 and have a 15 to 20 pound advantage by fight night. It wouldn't surprise me if Davis came in at 136, 137 and have to shed a couple of pounds at the weigh in because he's so undisciplined and will want to have every advantage over Leo.

One thing is not losing a belt when fighting in another division, and a totally different thing is two different weight class belts being on the line, and not to mention that the "other title" is the one weight class above.

This situation isn't anywhere near as bad as when Sugar Ray Leonard forced 175 pound champ Donny LaLonde to come down to 168 so they could fight for the super middleweight and light heavyweight belts at the same time.

The fight itself is a joke, of course you have no room to talk Frampton. You and Leo fought for a belt that was stripped from Rigo just because you were both too scared to fight him.
