The key to the fight will be how aggressive Crawford will be early. He cannot afford to get behind on the cards otherwise he will have to come forward later and that plays right into what Canelo will want him to do.

Canelo will likely test him early to see if he can hold up to body shots from a legit 168 pounder vs the mostly welterweights Buds been in with. I doubt Bud can really hurt Canelo. He’s taken shots from much bigger punchers and not been hurt.

Theres lots of quality analysis here, but I think its based on outdated info to an extent, for example:

There have been multiple iterations of Canelo, prior to GGG 1 he was mostly a pressure counter puncher who relied on excellent head movement and defense to land some rugged counter punches- most notably some powerful body shots. But then he fought GGG, and its as if he realized that he had a great chin, maybe he didn't need to counter and slip like he once had. He went up in weight and became more aggressive. He stayed this aggressive fighter until he ran into Bivol, who outboxed him and was rewarded such on the cards. Since that loss, Canelo has backed off chasing KOs a bit, so I am unsure what Canelo to expect when he gets in the ring with Bud; not to mention he is now an older fighter.

Then there is Bud, he is even older than Canelo, he's fought only once a year for the last half decade, he is fighting three weight classes up from his most recent established weight of welterweight. For as great as he is, he is even more of an enigma than Canelo in this fight.

What makes this fight interesting isnt that its two great fighters in their primes going at each other at their best weights. Its that we really don't know what we are getting. Its question mark vs question mark.
Damn Wicked Damn Wicked likes this.

Ugas had Spence badly buzzed, then the ref broke the action and stalled for a short bit and Ugas let Spence off the hook. Spence's chin had been cracked before that from a few bad car accidents and his boozing.

Canelo won't be hitting crawford. He'll be getting countered in between shots

Crawforx is easy to hit. Kavaliauskas hit him big time.

He will be eating big shots.

Shots he never felt so far.

This is true, though how many southpaws has Canelo fought and were they good? Asking a serious question here. That or guys that do change stance often to mix things up. I'm not saying Crawford has some crazy unique or unheard of style because others have tried it, but not many as effective. I even thought Crawford's lefty was weak when he would do it and appeared to get hit more often, but then he went and did the entire Spence fight lefty and beat a lefty at his own game.

Really, I don't know the outcome to this fight. It might be 50/50 or I would edge Canelo just because of the size difference. He's been the heavier guy for years now, faced heavier opponents and Crawford is going up 2 divisions. The time and time again quote of a good big man beats a good little man will probably apply to this one. Skill wise, I don't think you can take much away from either guy. They're both proven and just because one will lose will not necessarily make that guy lesser skilled. He'll have just got beaten by the better man and the loser of that night probably will have not lost to any other opponent on that day.

Crawford's guard won't help him fight night. Canelo will be punching through his soul.

Canelo is the armored tank that breaks through front lines.

Crawford is the elite sniper who dismantles from a distance before you know where the shot came from.

Unfortunately, Crawford's ammo is no match for a tank. His corner will throw the towel in the 9th for a ceasefire.
