Yeah but I'm pretty sure they all started playing organised football at under 7's or 8's like most of us that played as kids.

I dunno what would be Jake Paul footy equivalent would be. Maybe Usain Bolt trying to turn pro after his track career.

I mean a lot of it is still hours doing the thing. Jake Paul has been dedicated for what 3/4 years now?

I think if I played snooker every day of my life for the next 4 years, surely I could make a decent break.

To Jake's credit he is dedicated, pretty athletic, and has toughness. Ultimately if he wasn't he would have been splattered by now.

I don't care where Chavez is right now, there's no other sport where a youtuber could start in their 20s and beat former champions in that sport.

Look at the likes of Wilder or AJ. Never laced up a pair of gloves until they were adults and become world champions. You just can't do that in other sports, no chance.

It's simply down to needing less talent to succeed in boxing.

I don't wanna hear boxers are great sportsmen again. Brave? Absolutely. But it's a sport that people can start very late and still beat champions because the standard of sporting ability is so low.

Put it into perspective...do you think you could never dribble a basketball until the age of 21 and then within a few years be able to compete in a game with even the most mediocre retired NBA player? there's no way.

Paul, a guy who never boxed until his 20s just did as well against Chavez as prime Canelo did against a badly weight drained stoner Chavez lollll. Boxing is a joke.

      Heavyweight boxing, yes.

How far will somebody go in lower division with Wilder level talent?

        You're talking nonsense lad

You've had world champ heavyweights that never boxed until they're adults lol

I'm talking about people who literally never participated in the sport until adulthood. Only boxing and MMA fall into the category of people becoming champs when taking it up as adults. Because the talent level of these sports are much lower

I don't think we'll ever find more like for like comparisons if you will as the scouting and everything is just so vastly different but there are certainly no shortage of late starters in every sport. Anyone who can pass a medical can get a boxing license.

I think this must be his 6th year now?

He is dedicated and what you said but even then its just so masqued by him being in a position to pick guys who are so past it plus he has huge physical advantages over. For me the best marker would have to be Tommy Fury a relative novice who likely wouldn't even win an area title.

Really I'd be intrigued to see him fight a prime Cruiserweight who was just a good, honest pro. Could a somewhat athletic guy with toughness bridge the gap in 6-7yrs with unlimited money and a world class team behind him.
With Chavez Jr I truly feel at this stage anyone with fitness and some durability to survive a round or two onslaught could probably decision him. I mean he doesn't even try until the last round or round before last

The thing is Jake Paul isn't fighting guys close to top level or ''premier league'' football equivalents. He fought one prime guy at the lowest level in boxing and lost.

Chavez Jr was getting his backside kicked even in his peak by the likes or Brian Vera or a few years back to a debuting 50yr old washed MMA fighter.
Ok he got guided to a world title but he's basically spent the last 15yrs being a junkie.

They also never had such obscene advantages in their favour.

Yeah the fight I've always wanted to see for Paul is Vidal Riley.

If he was a serious boxer that would be the fight at this stage.

I've made peace with the fact he's not doing that. I'm sure Paul would sign to get his head caved in by a superstar but he's not legitimately going to fight up the levels.

I mean he should be looking to knockout Tommy.

There's a bit of a difference there in that those guys were incredibly athletic and of an exceptional size in the only division where that size can matter.

Could an 8 foot athletic guy taking up basketball at 18 make it to a pro level?

Do you think...unless they were selling out....that Jake Paul could beat Tony Bellew or Carl Froch? He couldnt stop a 58yo Mike Tyson...regardless of the talk that he took it easy. Its the reason he mentioned Ramirez and AJ....but called out Tommy Fury for a rematch. Hes playing around. He wont match up.against a genuine in form fighter who wont take the lay down money. I genuinely believe he thought he could beat Tommy Fury first time around...and as such didnt feel the need to feed him a script. Thats why he lost.

                      Bellew no, Froch maybe

Bellew was active more recently and is a sneaky fighter who would walk Paul onto a trap

Froch hasn't fought in 10 years and even in his prime was slow so it's possible Jake could run around and win on points.
