Americans don't care about the Olympics. However Olympics is a big deal around the world for many countries. Us Americans can care less. If he wanted to fight for his country there's nothing wrong with that. He didn't do it for the money.

Americans don't care about the Olympics. However Olympics is a big deal around the world for many countries. Us Americans can care less. If he wanted to fight for his country there's nothing wrong with that. He didn't do it for the money.

well track and field is the pinnacle for a lot of american stars, my opinion would be once u have got your gold medal its time to move forward and represent your country if thats how u see it in the paid ranks which are much more high profile overall i would say instead of waiting for 4 years to churn around once again

Watching Lomachenko fight was a real treat. The guy was a brilliant artist in the ring , when he got on a roll it was truly a thing of beauty. It was like watching Michelangelo paint the Sistine Chapel or Dali painting his Clocks. Watching a genius create leaves me in awe and a boxing genius is what we had in Lomachenko.I most likely won't see another like that in my lifetime. I just wish that he had fought a lot more often. In his losses being a " slow starter " really hurt him , his father should really have ad dressed that as soon as he developed that habit. He'd only have one loss in that case and that one was rather dubious..
Best wishes to Lomachenko and his family. Thanks for the memories. I hope that the Doctors are able to fix his back , I have back problems also and it really sucks.

Are you American? If so, then you proved my point. Most other countries don't see it that way. Track and field doesn't have a professional paid league so that is true its the pinnacle but most Americans couldn't name 20 gold medal winners in the last two olympics that weren't on the gymnastics team because they were all attractive. Most Americas dont care about olympics.

Fair enough, but Olympic boxing in Ukraine is very much more a focus of national pride than most realize, and I understand why he would want to repeat his success there, even at the cost of eating into his pro career. Respect to him for doing so, I say. And shame on the Olympics for trying to give up on boxing. It's such a pure and viscerally competitive sport, unlike, say, rhythmic gymnastics or similar nonsense.
