What about the fact that when he got up he stumbled forward ?
Is that a sign of being ok ?
I honestly didn’t give two fughs who’s won but Duarte was far from being ok
And as usual , the day after the fight it’s the usual bullchit that I was up , what’s the problem
These guys know what the case is getting up at nine
You can’t even say that he didn’t hear or see cause that ref was as close as possible to be , right in his face
I can’t see how this was a bad or dirty stoppage
Personally , I think that was the only thing that the ref did which was not bias towards Garcia
You could see Duarte on one knee, looking around (perhaps at his corner) and at the referee during the count. He was gonna get up, which he did. Yes, he was buzzed so his balance was off when he stood up, but he stood up and put both hands up. An honest/competent referee would have done more to see how hurt the opponent was. There was only 15 seconds left in the round. There's a great chance that Garcia was not going to finish Duarte. The ref did his dirty job to make sure Garcia would win.... It's like the referee was given this instruction before the fight, "If Garcia hurts Duarte, do whatever it takes to ensure a Garcia victory". I've been watching boxing for years. I can tell when corruption is at work.

Here's an example of a referee doing the right thing: Lennox Lewis VS Rahman I. Rahman knocked Lewis down. Lewis got up and beat the count. The referee looked at Lewis for a couple of seconds and motioned for Lewis to show him something. Lewis' legs buckled and the ref waived the fight off, saying Lewis was too hurt to continue. That ref gave Lewis the benefit of the doubt. Yesterday's ref couldn't wait to end the fight

At that point , I think Garcia would have finished him off
Before hurting him , i thought he was going to get clipped and lose this fight
Imo , there was no funny play but then again who the fugh knows
I’ve seen shadier chit than that , much more shady

I've seen guys hurt worse and come back to finish off the other guy. Not that it happens a lot, but it does happen occasionally. I think he could have rode out the round and been okay for the next round. But who knows.

I would have rather seen Garcia finish Duarte off later on - this would have eliminated this kinda debate.

There have been boxers who were hurt worse than Duarte and still came back. Gatti was the king of recuperating.

Too many of today's referees are doing their best to make it about them and not the boxers. They've been ruining it for the sport.

Definitely without doubt it happens but let’s be realistic , chances are Garcia would of finished him off
Mind you , i was under the assumption that Ryan was going to get caught but was not to be
That said , I still don’t think the ref played dirty in any way possible with the count
He was right in his face and getting up at 9 count is never a good thing

Can’t disagree with Ryan getting him out of there’s would eliminate any talks here
Wasn’t the case last night and yes I’m the first to call a spade a spade
Last night , imo , that wasn’t the case and Duarte should of gotten up at eight and again there would of been no talks or whispers so to say
The ref was making the fight about himself warning only Duarte for the majority of the fight but the ending is all on Duarte

He was up before ten and that where it counts. Ref was very pro Garcia.

Some here have never seen Jackson vs Castro.

That's true. He definitely should have got up at 8. Can't argue that.

No, Fury was making an effort to get to his feet as early as 7, and reached his feet at 9.

Duarte kept bended knee all the way until 9 and 3 quarters. That's basically quitting.

I was actually going for Duarte but this guy is looking like a fool and a massive hypocrite after his behaviour in the fight and his comments afterwards. First off, he said Ryan was a quitter and a joke and not a real Mexican and he was going to expose him for being a hype job. I can't really comment on the "not a real Mexican" comment since he's technically Mexican American but that's irrelevant anyways. Duarte clearly quit when he was dropped.
Everybody knows that if you start to get up at 9 or slightly after 9, especially when your legs are rubber, the ref is totally justified in stopping the fight. When Duarte got hit with that shot to the head that took his legs out from under him, he realized Ryan's power was real and he was not likely to recover before the round was over. He was in shock and didn't want any more.
Sure you can call Ryan a quitter for not getting up from that body shot against Tank but by that estimation, Duarte definitely quit against Ryan.
I can understand why Duarte was upset, especially after all the trash he talked backfired in the ring but come on man, you got beat fair and square. You don't deserve a rematch.
