I fight how i get told to fight. i improve by listening to my trainer and learning through sparring and practice, not by copying what i see on tv.
yeah but still this thread got over 50 replies and thats the reason why i make threads

Yeah same with me, my trainer was telling me to stop emulating pro fighters to much. (he knew I had some kind of craze for Ricky Hatton) and he told me how he wanted to play, and how he wants me to score.

when i originally started boxing, i didn't really know what style i wanted to use. but i know that due to my structure, some styles are better than others for me. the person with the closest structure to myself in boxing is mike tyson, so i tried to learn his peek a boo style a little bit. let me tell you, it's money for me. i wouldn't use the style if it wasn't the best fit, there just isn't another style for me to use.

I think the only thing that should be thought about is "How do I get my defense, offense, footwork, speed, power etc etc to there maximal limits?" You can always take stuff from certain fighters but only in the sense of "Man, Mayweather never gets hit, I need to work on my defense more" and not try and emulate his exact style because it will not work for you. As guys have already said, everyone has different attributes and body types. The more you train to perfect all the main requirements and the more sparring you do, your style will already be there because that is just how you move and fight. Even if you like to think you can fight like Mayweather, you can't.

If you like Tyson but are rather tall and lanky, if you try to emulate him there is a huge chance you are simply going to ruin everything you have going for you. The only thing you can do is train to perfect all boxing skills and make your weaknesses your strengths. You can't change how you move and fight, but you can get better and work on aspects that need to be worked on. Trying to emulate is a bad idea.

piss off mate, hatton isn't unhealthy at that weight and he throws way more body shots/head shots than cotto to. you want a bet? then sign away, i'll sign away when I get back to you. I'm willing to bet 30k. (obviously not all on you).
