Comments Thread For: Crawford, Inoue Remain a Debate Apart: P4P Update

Every first or second place choice in the BoxingScene pound-for-pound year-end poll went to one of two people. It's the same two people just about everyone else has too. Terence Crawford edged out Naoya Inoue but it's clearly a two-man race for the moment and 2023 was another example of why. Crawford finally got his generational showdown at

Buds had his time in limelight, time to update list with Inoue no1. 2 great wins back to back shows 1st win over fulton was not down to luck, but because of inoue brilliance.
Bud on other hand with only one win, leaves the door open to suggestions he Mightve been in right place at right time when spence had off night, bud shouldve followed up with a 154 win over Tim Tszue

They got Crawford's record wrong, it is the same as Inoue 26-0.

But sheesh, Tank being above Teo is just so funny it makes me cringe.

What is this lame excuse of bud had his time so inoue has to be at the top? It does not work like that. Bud is still winning and dominating, just beat a pound for pound guy cleanly. He is consistently at the top past and present. Deal with it.

Well, I'm politely trying to hint the fact that a lot of people not sold on Spence, and that Bud shouldve followed up with a 154 title. Inoue beat 2 people in his 4th division. We are asking bud to beat only one person in his 4th weight division.
There seems to be a lot of hanging around with Bud, I've noticed.

I have no issue elevating Inoue to #1 after the Tapales win. Imo he clearly deserved to be FOTY.

His recent body of work has been as impressive as Crawford dominating Spence.

Hopefully this discussion remains reasonable and rational, focusing on what they’ve done inside the ring.

You don't get to decide how things work and draw the line on what boxers should do to be great. You are just a casual bum, a small insignificant peanut.

                This is dishonest and disingenuous.

Crawford unified his 2nd division by thoroughly dominating and destroying a consensus top 5 p4p opponent who was heavier. Inoue also beat bigger opponents, neither of whom were as highly regarded as Spence.

Everyone is sold on Spence as a top tier boxer. He was definitely more respected and highly regarded than Fulton and Tapales.

That win doesn’t disappear or not get counted.

If you want to elevate Inoue to #1 based on winning two fights while Crawford only had one, ok. Just say it.

Stop trying to devalue or minimize Crafword’s win over Spence.

Bud took 5 years to best spence as I said he does a lot of hanging around. There's nothing wrong with needing 5 years, but when you got a kid come along like inoue beating champs in 4th division, in firstbfight, it's not a good look for Bud. Inoue proving you don't need 5 years in 4th weight class, let alone 3rd weight class.
But Bud like Nelo v GGG at 160, Nell felt he needed to prepare 100% and only when Nell was ready. That's cool and ok, but compared to Inoue it's not a good look.

February will probably be the next potential possible time the #1 could change. If Usyk convincingly wins against Fury to go undisputed in HW it will put him up to top above Bud and Inoue and I think he will stay there until the end of the year. Bud defeating Spence again in a rematch in February won't be enough to keep the top.

If Usyk doesn't win but Bud only fights Spence again, he will lose the top when Inoue defeats Nery/MJ next year.

Canelo won't be in the conversation unless he fights Benavidez as a start. Haney won't be in the conversion until he atleast unifies against Teo or crush Matias as well.
