I still don't believe it happens. There are likely to be issues with PPV cuts and getting the UFC on board or out of the way. Plus Floyd isn't getting any younger and even Conor recently spoke on the fight not likely happening til 2018 or at best late this year. There are also going to be issues getting a fight sanctioned by a boxing commission between a 49-0 guy vs a guy making his pro debut plus having no known amateur record. At best I think this fight ends up being a exhibition just like the Ali vs Anoki "fight".

I think it will happen... There's too much money at stake.

The only issue I see in the way, is the UFC. Conor is under contract with them, and can't fight without them being a part of it.

I hear people talking about the Ali act, but as far as I know, if you have a legitimate contract with a promotional organization, you have to honor that.

I remember Don King was able to successfully get an injunction against an MMA promotion trying to put on a Mayorga fight (while Mayorga was still under contract with King).

Unless there's something in the contract that would make it void, Conor will HAVE to allow UFC to be his promotor for the fight.

I wonder how they could work it out, though? The salaries, and percentages are much different in boxing than MMA: In boxing, the promotor is usually entitled to 27% of the fighter's revenue; but in UFC, I'm not exactly sure how it works, but it appears to be much more favorable to the organization (UFC), than the fighter.

I wouldn't go into a half a billion dollar fight, when you'd normally be entitled to 30-40% of that (sounds about right - Floyd definitely deserves the lion's share), and of that 200 million, you only get 20-30 of it. That's still a lot of money - MUCH MORE than Conor would make in UFC fights, but that's just too much to give up.
