John's Baptism that was a Water Baptism was only for a time until CHRIST comes and Baptizes the believer with the Holy Ghost unto Salvation and the Fire Represents God's Presence and Power. Water Baptism was required as a symbol of what was to come, but now that the Savior has come, we are Saved by the Holy Spirit Baptism, NOT water Baptism.
Mt 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Lu 3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:
It is the Holy Spirit that Baptizes unto Salvation:
1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be ***s or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. {Gentiles: Gr. Greeks}
Hi! I've seen your posts several times here, and I can tell that you are greatly interested in philosophy, religion, and the life evermore.
It's definitely intriguing to try to understand our lives through these lenses, and I'm always curious if other people share the same interests.
Have you any favorite theologians that you particularly admire or are interested in?
It's so interesting to hear about someone's specific interests in this vast and often overwhelming topic, and understanding that will probably give me a better perspective on your many posts.
There are many great books written on theology. What are some of your favorites?
I'm also curious if you study philosophy and religion academically or if it is more of a personal interest, or perhaps both.
Whatever the case, I'm sure it's been an enlightening journey to learn and grow as you explore the questions of life.
I don't follow John MacArthur because he has bad theology. I am a Dispensationalist. Try listening to Through the Bible with Les Fel**** and Through the Bible with Dr James Vernon Mcghee.
Thanks, I’m kinda new to Christian theology so I’m libel to get confused regularly!
Read the book of Romans. It's all about Salvation by Grace through Faith in Christ alone. The Gospels were written to Israel under the Law, Paul's writings like Romans were written to Gentiles under Grace. It also includes the ***s that are alive today.
