Alfonso Teofilo Brown better known as Panama Al Brown was the first fighter to ever become champion coming from a Latin America country.
Brown turned pro in 1922. He was very big for his weight-class. He stood 5'11 and had a 76" reach. He won a title in the flyweight division in only his third fight as a pro. He also was arguably the best bantamweight during the golden era of the bantamweight divison during the 20's early 30's. He defended his bantamweight World championship title for 6 years.
He was quick with his hands and feet. He moved well, was fine boxer with solid power. Had a great chin.
He retired in 1942 with almost 170 fights and only 19 losses and had never been stopped throughout his long career.

And, for the record is not my fault that Panama Al Brown was the first Latino Worldboxing champ and came from Panama.
I thought this was the Latino/Hispanic Lounge where we showed respect and rep the whole Latin culture?
I am paying respect to the first Latino champion in boxing. I could careless if he was from Panama, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Nicaragua, Argentina, etc etc... We all are raza and suppose to be Latinos unidos in this bitch.Last edited by jrosales13; 02-07-2011, 12:36 AM.
