I've heard it more then once on here, "he's mexican-american but is not ashamed of where he comes from". It sounds to me that some of you guys may think alot of mexican-americans are ashamed of their heritage? Cause every mexican I've ever known here in the states are very proud. Am I missing something here?

I don't remember where i read this before, I think it may have been from that book "4 Kings" ( the book that talks about 80's boxing between leonard, hagler, duran and hearns), but i read Duran's father was a mexican American in the military, went to panama and got roberto's mom pregnant, then left. So Duran was never raised by his dad...And his dad only came back to him after Roberto became rich and famous and i forget how it ends but I think roberto didnt want him back...

You got it right except his father never went to roberto and never really cared to seek him out. Years later Roberto sought out his father but there was'nt anything really there. You gotta read Roberto Durans book "HANDS OF STONE".

Well, I personally met a few who don't care about their Mexican heritage.

I have three cousins from TX who were born there and they don't want anything to do with Mexico or related to it.
