    Best streaming device?

Chime in on what you think are some of the better streaming devices. I was thinking about forking over the cash for a Shield TV Pro - but would like to consider some alternatives.

pay for direct tv and stop being a cheap bum doing illegal streams. If you're streaming all of the legal stuff, then any smart tv would do, but since you're looking for a specific device, says you're doing nothing but illegal streaming.

I just buy smart tv instead. I have samsung smart tvs and samsung cellphones. For netflix, amazon.. i use the smart tv built in app.. for some streamin of videos say pinoy channels, i use my cellphone browser, go to a website that stream videos then mirror my cellphone to tv...

Shield TV is the best but is overkill if you aren't streaming games. 4k firestick is perfect for most peoples needs.

I understand that the first gen Xbox makes an excellent low cost emulator.

what does that mean? Is it good for games or not good for games? when you say streaming games is it playing a game on a separate console and use the box to stream the game? can you use this box to play old emulators and if so what's a good controller for it?

The game is being played on the Nvidia servers and streamed to the Shield TV. I wouldn't say it's a good option, latency could make games unplayable. But it is an option if you don't have a gaming PC. It's very good for emulators. It has it's own controller.

It has by far the best hardware of any streaming device.

Can you name a few alternatives that run the Android TV OS? Gaming isn't a priority for me..
