Finally I purchased the Rosetta Stone app so I can learn Spanish and maybe another language. The app cost $199 for lifetime access.

Anyway I just started this week and should fluent before the end of this pandemic.

I did the same back in 2001. Back then it came in CD’s through the mail.

Had two years of it in high school and took two semester of it in college, because I thought it would be an easy elective. To boot, two of my best friends at the second college I attended were from Puerto Rico and tortured me, endlessly, by conversing in Spanish, though their English was perfect.

Somehow, years later, I can remember it and, sometimes, it comes out pretty fluidly, though I do speak it better than I understand it, when it is spoken to me.....unless I get regular exposure, which isn't often these days.

One of the weirdest experiences I had was about 10 years ago, when I was a commissioned salesman at an electronics store and had three days of Spanish-speaking customers. By day 3, I was sitting down with the guys, talking life and politics in Spanish and when my co-workers starting talking to me afterwards, I had to jar my memory on how to respond in English.

A 2nd language, from what I understand, resides in a different part of your brain than your primary language, which makes for some interesting mental acrobatics. This much I can tell you, though. The more you speak it, the more it sticks.
