He is clearly talking about white nationalist groups who consider democracy non-viable therefore want to use force to escape the fate of the rest of the Western world. Fine, it's categorized as "white supremacist terror" and NBC got some traffic out of the title.

I'm very aware that people say that racism requires a power imbalance. This is always (as far as I am aware) used as a rationalisation to say that racism against white people doesn't - in fact can't - exist.

Why do they do this? Because they are racist against white people, and they want to justify their racism.

Racism is prejudice against people based on their (perceived) race.

Anyone who tries to move away from that definition - to add clauses - is doing so because they want some wriggle room to be racist.

The area of disagreement - just from personal experience - is that I have never, ever seen this in any kind of conspiracy format.

I've seen it exclusively used by intersectionalists.

Again, through the lens of intersectional theory, they define 'privilege' as basically being anything which they believe straight white men to have.

I don't really see this expressed in terms of conspiracism. I see it expressed as intersectionalist 'academics' redefining what 'privilege' and 'power' mean so that those meanings only target specific demographics, with no attempt at objectivity.

Although there is an overlap in the kind of craziness which conspiracists exhibit, I think that the intersectionalists are more dangerous.
Conspiracy theories are generally not taught at universities, with entire degrees, even PhDs available. Which makes indoctrination in conspiracy theories a little harder.

The outright racism, sexism and bigotry of intersectionality has that official-seeming endorsement which makes it even more dangerous.
