We often hear people saying how they don't judge others or that we should not judge others. At a glance, if you observe your own and others behaviors though, we do judge others each and every day, whether we realize it or not.
Whether you are hiring someone for a job, selecting a babysitter for your kids, choosing a doctor, renting out an apartment, etc. We judge people by the way they dress, speak, appearance, hygiene, beliefs, and all the other tangibles that set us apart. To say that we would never judge anyone is (a) false and (b) unrealistic and even foolish.
We gain wisdom over the years based upon trial and error, observation, personal experiences, and education. While it isn't right to judge someone because of their skin color, sexuality, gender, ethnicity, handicap, religion or social status, it is prudent to judge them for their personal choices. I would go a step further and say that it's acceptable to judge them for some of the aforementioned qualities such as religion (I'm not hiring a Satanist to babysit my child), or politics (do I really want to hire a known radical to be a high school teacher--even though many of them are)?
Lines get crossed, and sometimes right or wrong isn't a clearly drawn line in the sand. Do you ever find yourself in a situation where you are consciously or sub-consciously judging someone? What's your rationalization?
