School children buried in moving vans. Kidnappers released with help from retired California judge publicly advocating for their release.

I don't think they should have been released. Unless they were buried and could dig themselves out to freedom.
In 1976, gunmen stormed a school bus carrying 26 children – ages 5 to 14 – and their bus driver in Chowchilla, California. As part of a ransom plot, they drove the hostages into a rock quarry and forced them into what could have become a mass grave: a moving van soon to be covered with 6 feet of dirt.

"The quarry owner's son and two of his friends were convicted of the crime, each receiving a sentence of life without the possibility of parole. An appellate court overturned their convictions because none of the victims had sustained serious physical harm."

    Jesus Christ.

    **** California.

I just finished watching this documentary. The town of Chowchilla wanted to lynch these men in 1976 after they were captured. Now they have been released in the last 10 years. One felon will inherit a $100,000,000 trust. I think he should have to share it with these people who were kidnapped as children. Gavin Newsome's father helped get them releases, using his influence as a retired judge.
