    Thoughts on Michael Franzese

I love listening to his stories and all. he really lived the life. but im just surprised the mafia don't come at him anymore. I guess he's really that smart.

His father Sonny Franzese was a true gangster, a gangster's gangster.

Michael Franzese probably wouldn't have made it to that rank if it wasn't for his father. He is very business savy though and was a great earner for the family.

But im not a fan of the guy. He keeps denying talking to the feds but he ratted on Norby Walters.

Im curious if he had to commit murder to get made.

I was surprised to learn he was portrayed in Goodfellas (1990). He's mentioned during the early part of the film's club scene where Henry Hill goes over the list of patrons. Remember this was a film about the mafia in the 50s-1980. He looks remarkably good for his age.

Also, I disagree with the above poster that he was only made because of his connections. He was a very good earner and brought in millions for the Colombo family.

As far as speaking out today on YouTube, he doesn't actually implicate anyone unless it's common knowledge, he just fills in the gaps. I like his YouTube videos, they're compelling, especially his critique of gangster films. His insights also give a clearer picture of how the mafia actually operated in its heyday - if you're into that stuff over and above the films that glamourise them.

I've' heard the show a few times, but always wonder if he exaggerates things for clicks.

Human garbage like every other guido scum mob **** head. People think it's cool though cause movies and glorifying gangster lifestyles. Seems like they're trying to find clever ways to subvert son of sam laws or maybe it doesn't matter if you're a ****ing rat. I don't know I don't follow these grease balls stories. String them all up and bury them in a shallow grave. Waste of skin and oxygen.

In his defense he seems more of a business man after listening to him he seems like a good guy that did bad things compared to the other mafia guys doing interviews bragging about the people they killed.

Mike was more of a white collar gangster. He made a lot of money using his brain and his diplomacy. I doubt he gets his foot in the door if not for his father. He was actually trying to be legit, I think he had ambitions to be a doctor and was a pre-med student. He seems like a very measured and poised individual, and he is a good speaker. From what I heard he had socked away over $10 million before he was arrested and has been able to launder it back to his estate since his release. He and guys like Gravano were polar opposites. Sammy was more of a street gangster, Michael Franzese was more like Michael Corleone from The Godfather. Gotti was a dumb m’fer and caused more damage to the mob than any other monster before or since.

Lol, the mob has been decimated, No one hits anyone anymore, the last real hit was a guy in my old hood from the Purple Gang, Meldish was hit by Madonna because of a money dispute. This was years ago... These guys are all out now and do podcasts, they are not afraid of being whacked.

Yup. The mob had both, always was tension... it is what did big Paul in. The street guys see themselves as the hub, while the business guys feel likewise. I think generally speaking people tend to underestmate the intelligence it takes to thrive in that environment BUT at the same time, as the saying goes: "the man with one eye in the land of the blind is king." With smarts one can go far, provided they did not have to take one for the team... Gravano is another smart guy, though he was more of a street guy.

Gotti did mess the mob up for sure. But they let it happen, Chin new it was going to really cause problems and he let it go after failed attempts.
