Ah well. At least you can look forward with joyous anticipation to the warm feeling of getting a good annual review I guess. Surely that's better than money or having a life outside of work?

I had a very similar situation at my place too. The VP would push off duties to me that were strictly for his role. He made the excuse that he was grooming me for the role. Meanwhile, I stress the f**k out everyday of my life doing my job and his. Thankfully, the GM didn't renew his contract and he was sent packing.

PS: When he left, I did not get the VP position.

Do what I do. I tell them if they are going to make time for me to do the work. If they say no I say I will get to it and leave it there. When they ask me why it was not done I ask them when I am suppose to do it in the current working hours.

Once they see it starts accumulating they have to figure something out. It is impossible to get through so much work in the time allotted. I know sometimes it gets busy and I step in but some situations are not sustainable because of staff shortages.

Also it depends how flexible is your job, it works both ways but if it is not then you have to let them know about there is not time to do it. Unless I do a mistake I don't stay after work.

If you continue to do the extra work they will think that it is okay.

Butler might be a salaried man.

Salary sucks because there is not limit or what time of day you have to work. Unless I am well compensated and I should be able to run things
