is because people arent allowed to talk about it properly!!! the george floyd movement was supposedly to bring racism into the forefront of society but when people try to talk about and work on ways to move forward every discussion becomes heated!!!!!! i've seen people saying white people shouldnt take the knee because its 'not their fight' but then those who dont want to are called 'racist'!!!!! Anyone who tries to empathise is told 'you'll never understand', people who try and help the communities are accused of trying to be 'white saviours'!!!. Society is (should be) built on constructive dialogue!!!!! there is a bestseller 'why i dont talk to white people about racism', you dont want to talk about it and express your opinion on moving forward, dont be surprised if nothing gets done!!!!

I think the other way, folks need it to be a subject so it won't die.
America didn't have much to do with slavery as Europe did. America didn't have as much to do with the scramble as Europe did. But America can never stfu about black people is X and white people is Y. So, I hardly see the Dutch being demonized or fighting over racial issues, but, Americans, daily, euro mother ****ers of both races chiming in on American racism, daily.
How do you, politically speaking, take millions of people for centuries away from their homeland, then free them but only because you're taking control of your homeland and get off with little to no criticism or daily pressure to radically change your culture in the modern era? You just STFU and move on because you know the Americans are going to, of their own will, take center stage on that topic.

I guess it's a careful balance of provocation and being vague. Specific enough to provoke an emotion but vague enough to allow goals to be open to interpretation.

Yep, when I used to listen to talk radio they used to say the same thing. People don't want to have honest discussions about race. Hell, there's always people that don't wanna have honest discussions about anything. Like politics or war, terrorism. It's why things don't get resolved. A lot of people are just stuck in their beliefs, keep going back to the same talking points and just won't answer questions honestly. I think George Carlin even had a comedy bit about this with politicians about how the public have shown we really don't want honesty because those politicians don't get the most votes saying that we want someone whose "honest about being full of shlt." He even used to say the people ****** and not so much the politicians, so maybe we should demand more out of our leaders.
I think we've started to do that since then, at least with businesses. People complaining over social media and giving crappy reviews online can either make a company listen or put them out of business. But people have to start to do the same thing with politics. Start to use their voices to put better people in charge who actually listen to and represent us, get rid of laws that make no damn sense and make the system work for the people for a change.Madison Boxing likes this.

It will end when people grow up and learn to stop being offended by the words of people who mean NOTHING to them.
If I can send you into an emotions breakdown when you don't know me from Adam, by calling you a name, that's a weakness in you, and *******s will exploit that weakness as long as it exists.
The real end to Racism would be to empower black people to be emotionally strong enough to not have a breakdown over a word.

It'll end when everyone feels like they're being treated fairly, simple as.... Ingrained assumptions and self interest run deep however and as long as people still actually believe - even subconciously -that skin colour or ethnic origin are what define human behaviour or potential then progress will be slow. Coupla hundred years of prejudice and racialist legislature and pseudo-science ain't gonna just dissappear overnight and as long as folk seek out individualist or racialised explanations for society's ills that's all they'll see.
People don't really seem to understand the nature or origins of racism or that the whole concept of 'racial identity' was manufactured for the purpose of justifying the morally unjustifiable. It wasn't enough for us to go round the world kicking ass and plundering who and what we wanted (as Empires had done throughout history), we also had to convince ourselves, or at least our restless populace, that we had a moral right - even a duty - to do so.
The Enlightenment is known as the Age of Reason but could just as well be called the Age of Hypocrisy.
