    Favourite Final Fantasy game?

For me it's Final Fantasy X, it's just "my" final fantasy, the first one I was old enough to "get" and to buy at launch, I really loved that game, I remember buying a PS2 magazine on my school lunch break and it said it was coming out in a year, which seemed like forever back then.

I pre-ordered it and got off the school bus in the city to pick it up after school, I rember every school day I wanted to just get home to keep playing.

Looking back it has plenty of flaws but I still think it's great, a pretty tight story, not ridiculously over complicated like later titles, great world and characters you actually like.

X-2 was a weird game, not bad but it's a game for girls.

I was a bit too young for 7 and 8, although I did play 7 I never got very far as I couldn't figure out the mechanics

I got 13 at launch and it was such a disappointment, no likeable characters and too linear for a rpg game on the PS3, confusing and **** story, can you believe square had the nerve to make it into a trilogy? Wtf

15 is a mess, but it has value, likeable-ish characters and some good ideas, but you can tell it's development went FUBAR, kind of a shame.

Haven't played 7 remake yet but will be getting a PS4 just for it lol.

Only FF I played was FF7. Looked hella good but I was super young and didn't really understand what was going on lol. Also I wasn't the biggest fan of turn based combat.

The new FF7 remake looks amazing. If it was out on PC, I would have bought it already.

Only thing that made me SLIGHTLY hesitant to play any other FF games is that they seem very campy and corny. Typically Japanese RPG.

I know I'll get a lot of hate for this since this is a boxing forum and most people consider it a girly game but X2.

iirc It was the final main series turn-based ff game and in a sense was the final evolution of turn-based final fantasy games. The battle system was amazing, one of the best of any game ever. It was also an open world 3D game, not all that common in the early 2000s. Also the game ah so much ****ing content. Doing everything will probably take 200+ hours easy. I wouldn't be surprised if all the FF7 remake games combined still have less content than it. I mean most RPGs are big but X2 is ****ing huge. And there are so many things you could do. You can be a pokemon trainer if you want to for god's sake. I also think it had a very nice story and dialogue. You really feel like you're on a team of superheroes whose job is to save the world. Also taking on Dark Bahamut as Rikku in her megazord dressphere was one of the most epic feeling boss fights ever, especially considering it wasn't even halfway through the game. The world also really felt alive which is common in games now but not so much back then. Honestly if the game came out today with better graphics (even to the level of the original game's cutscenes), it wouldn't feel outdated at all, it would feel like a brand new game.

X was good too don't get me wrong but X2 was like an improved X that fixed it's flaws to me.

Edit: lol read OP's comment and it confirmed what I suspected about people considering X2 girly !

              7-8-9-10-X2 were all great games.

              7 is the GOAT tho.

I've finished the 7 remake, it's good, but not quite the same. Too much filler in it.

I only ever played 7 on PS1. I got about halfway through it. I loved it though, but when I got stuck, I kept getting put into too many random battles and it just irritated me, eventually. Might play ps4 remake. Recommended or? Any others I should play?
