Whats the point of having an 80gig ps3 versues the smaller hard drives?

can you save stuff to the hard drive like dvds and stuff and play it off the 80gig hard drive? Or are bigger hard-drives usually just for downloadable content?

you can save whatever you want(in terms of media), copy data from dvd's, images, music and video from a usb device into your ps3....stream from your computer to the ps3 via wifi.....some games have mandatory installs so it can run smoother...

and you can put a cheap generic bigger hard drive on the ps3 whenever you want......

do you have to do it through the usb cord, or could I load up a dvd on it and choose to rip/save the image onto its hard drive?

custom data dvd's(dvd's you burn) can be copied directly.....

its illegal to rip retail dvd's though....so im pretty sure you wont be able to rip a dvd directly(havent tried, though, lol)......you can make a dvdrip on a computer and then transfer it to the ps3 though.................
