    What's a good TV 720p vs. 1080p

I plan on getting a Hi-Def television next month. I know 1080p is the highest quality you could go, but 720p was s-hitting on them at wal-mart. It seemed that those tvs were way ****ing clearer than that s-hit.

    Can anyone help me out.

Pioneer Elite PRO-1150HD (768/720p), P4P, the TV on the market bar none.

Probably the best **** for buck with great quality if your looking for an LCD is the Samsung 650series, 1080p.

This is if your looking to get a 40" or above if your getting smaller than 40" then you should consider a 720p/1080i (they are the same thing) TV since the difference between 720p and 1080p at below 40" is almost impossible to distinguish.

What size are you thinking of getting and what is your general budget?

I am very very fussy when it comes to picture quality i have now owned 3 LCD TV's and a Plasma and have sent them all back as i cant stand the poor image movement handling on them they were expensive units as well. If you plan on just playing games on them your fine but i find even running through Blueray image motion handling is utter trash compared to CRT, There is also a know issue with many Samsung units called lipsync, basically the audio output to your surround speakers is out by 1-2 seconds this is because the processors on the screen take so long to process the image the audio on the TV gets delayed and is in sync but the output jacks are not delayed which is ******, although Samsung have denied this everyone i know who owns a Samsung HD LCD has this problem.
The reason the 720p might have looked better is the picture they were feeding it might have been standard definition thus the 720p has to upscale less to get to its native resolution. In the end I have settled for a good quality CRT that I managed to find on ebay it even runs at 720p which was good, and for watching films i have just brought a HD projector which was actually much cheaper than a good plasma TV and gives a much more cinema like picture.
Some people love flat screens but you need to go and take a look at the unit before buying.

I can't disclaim Tunney's personal experiences because they are just that his personal experiences as all manufatorers have bad units in batches but my question to him would be what model Samsung gave him this problem.

I helped a family member purchase a Samsung LN52650 and they have had no trouble with it.

Also for the vast majority of purchasers and reviewers the Samsung 650 is very highly rated and is very affordable considering the quality. Check out CNET for editorial reviews and user reviews.

Also there are a ton of threads of "What TV" in AVSForum which is a very tech savy forum and the 650 series is highly regarded and very often recommended as best **** for buck.

          I have a 2 LCD's a 40" LNS4096 for bedroom and a Sony 46" XBR2.

I am just not a fan of flat screen TV's there are a fair number of people on the AV forums that dont like them and still like the CRT over flat screen, its a personal thing as i know a lot of people that like flat screens, its a bit like 24p on blue ray i notice the picture flicker where as some people dont see it at all, I love my HD projector though it great.
