I know what you mean. No matter what you thought of Wilder, if you were a legit fan of boxing, you simply couldn't help admiring the guy for the guts and heart he showed in those defeats to Fury....Pharlapz likes this.

It was a mandatory defence, so he had no option in that respect.
What puzzled me was why the WBC ordered him to fight Povetkin in the first place, when they were clearly in Haymon/PBC's pocket at that time. Maybe, for legal reasons, they were compelled to?...JakeTheBoxer likes this.

Wilder avoided fighting Klitschko for the undisputed crown as verified by his own manager. After the IBF, WBO and WBA titles were divided, he made no attempt to unify with any of the guys who held them, leaving that job to AJ.
After AJ unified those 3 titles, Wilder turned down a career...

I don't see this as a mismatch or an easy win for Canelo. Crawford is a very clever boxer. He has stamina, great determination and a winning mentality. He should also have hand and foot speed advantage over Canelo....
