During the 14-15 era Ward was 171 3/4 on the scales after the weight cut, you want to cut an extra 3.5 lbs from that against prime 3G, good luck with that. Why would Ward gamble with his life like that, it makes no sense and that is why it did not happen....

Well yeah he retired during peak GGG and passed up on the biggest payday being a prizefighter in his prime or near his prime....

That article is from 2016 I'm talking years 14'-15' when from the horses mouth may or may not have been retired. Ward already fought custom weight by then so he would not realistically have made 168 and not show up a corpse based on the facts....Last edited by Haka; Today, 08:57 AM.

By the time the Golovkin Froch talks were going on Ward was already fighting at custom weight classes of 172lbs. Good luck squeezing another 4lbs and not show up as a corpse on fight night. There is nothing proven about those catchweight talks, Froch might be saying that to save face....

Why did Ward not linger around at 168 longer ? He was a boring hugger that utilized a big weight cut as an integral part of his competitiveness. HBO was not going to setup a show to accommodate Wart for all the bad numbers and boring hugfests they had to deal with, that is not a GGG problem....Last edited by Haka; Today, 07:22 AM.

You ignore the fact that HBOd didn't want Wart on their network since they could not afford another bombing another broadcast with a hugging fest. Froch was always the one with the outspoken trash talk, and the come forward style, so it remains questionable that in his prime, or close to it, Froch,...

Only this one question still:
It was anybody 154 - 168. If Froch was retired why did he take the bait and entertain negotiations and then on second thought back off ? Fighters on the wrong side of 30 often fight once a year so everything was still in that time span. Froch even admitted...

For all the trashtalk he had Froch became real quiet when the opportunity to earn a career high pay day to find out what the Mexican style was about....

It could be just a start of the negotiations to later concede it for something else. It seemed they couldn't get anyone in the ring with GGG at some point, especially in the 12-16 era, it raises questions for me when someone walks away from a career high payday just like that and call it a day....

GGG had been calling out 154-168 for a long time, still when Froch was active. It would have been a career high payday with HBO involved. GGG never did catchweights his whole career those are made up lies by Froch years after the fact....

How is Froch willing to take on anyone when he is one record ducking triple G ?...

Throw Clottey in there and it short circuits all your boxrec derived theories....

It's clear you are capable of interpreting where the real danger lied all those years in terms of staunch boxing opposition, it would be interesting if you are able to keep that consistency in multiple post instead of incidentally gauging things the right way. Cotto as the TV network favourite also...

Pre 2005 there might have been some broadcast with the fight night weights but beyond that there were never those numbers you are talking about published in a broadcast by Showtime or HBO....

Lucas is comparable to Maidana same kind of Ws and Ls, prime Dessert Storm is better than prime Hatton. Rios was never baby Margarito because Margarito was already champ in WW in 2001 and was at the top for a decade. Cotto weighed in at 145 the previous fight so there was only negligable weight cut...

Maybe Ali is favourite but it would have been close fight regardless and Usyk likes being the underdog.

Correct there are no official sanctioned weights, only rumours. Although it is a minor detail for still getting ragdolled around the ring for most of the 12 rounds in fight 1 and getting a gift. The second fight was closer but was tainted based on point deduction that should have at least been scored...
