You should definitely start boxing but you MUST eat more especially when training. You'll be surprised how much you eat when trying especially with a high metabolism. If you don't eat enough you'll struggle when trainibg and find you're picking up all kinds of aches because you aren't getting enough nutrients to repair your body.
But man 6'1 is a great height to be boxing if you have broad shoulders. It's not uncommon to get 6'1 132lbers but you could go up to middleweight and still have a good height advantage. But I would say you're current weight is a bit low. I'd die if I was your weight and I'm unusually tall for the weight as it is. But don't worry, just eat good healthy foods like meat, fish and carbs to fuel your training. I gained some decent muscle when I trained.

As far as I know you are underweight, but I don't really know if boxing is actually dangerous because of that.
If you are really serious about gaining weight I personally recommend hitting the gym and doing heavy compound exercises (squats, bench presses, deadlifts, etc). Make your sessions short but heavy. Have sessions like this 3 times per week or more.
Combine this with a lot of food. I won't bore you with calories and stuff as you are at a point where the only way can be up. Just eat substantially more and try to spread that throughout the day. So don't have 5 plates of pasta at dinner but rather eat 5 or 6 meals per day with plenty of carbs and proteins. If you combine these two factors I have no doubt you will gain....
Finally, eventhough I do not know if boxing is dangerous for you I do know that it will increase your metabolism further which would make it harder for you to gain weight. Just something to take into consideration.

Most people around our ages can be at freakishly low weights because of our metabolism (and mine goes through the roof). That said however you should monitor how many calories you are eating per day. Although my metabolism is very high I still realised I wasn't eating enough and found I needed between 2500-3000 cals a day. I stayed the same weight but I don't look as skinny ad my ribs aren't too exposed. I look like 20lbs heavier even though I have no fat lol. You fit my description though, talk for your height and with broad shoulders. Check with your dad how he grew and see what he says. My dad was skinny up until his early 20s when he suddenly filled out and gained muscle. You may also still be growing in which case you'll gain a pound or two here and there. I was 5'7 1/2 4 months ago and now I'm 5'9 and still growing.
