    nasal congestion when running

i have had nasal congestion when running for a few years, i dont remember suffering from it when i was younger. i was wondering if anyone else suffers from the same thing, and whether you have ways to prevent it.
i have a slightly deviated septum which could be the cause, but it seems like it is more to do with sinus'. i have done little reading on the subject, but what i have read all said that it could be some sort of allergy, similar to hayfever. EIR, exercise induced rhinitis, i believe. my nose often feels bunged up in one nostril, and when i run it becomes worse, as if it closes.

i have just purchased a nasal dilator for running, the main use of these is to stop snoring, but i do not have that problem. Has anyone ever tried using one of these for exercise before and did it help?

I have nasal polyps which is a non cancerous tumour within the nose. It's like a big g****, so when running or boxing I strictly breathe from my mouth.

do you not find that you are ever short of breathe? or that your throat gets dry?

i've been led to believe that this year was very bad for allergy sufferers. that could be your issue.

you're just running, bro. it's not like anybody is going to come out of the woodwork and check your chin, or clean you out with an open ice hit

            open your mouth.

see if the problem persists if you do some exercise indoors.....

Ok so, i use to have bad nasal congestion too. I stopped eating dairy and dairy products for other reasons and noticed my congestion went away. I don't have the scientific referal, but i know that dairy is linked directly to the production of mucus. Most people arn't willing to sacrifice dairy, but if the problem outweighs the solution, try cutting out ALL dairy for 2 the 3 weeks to see if the problem persists. Then you can reassess if you're willing to cut dairy out of your diet completely.
