if Golovkin really was as good as advertised... then being unable to get his game going in either of the two fights with Canelo, and losing the rematch... must mean that Canelo is pretty special...
stay consistent groupie
However, I completely disagree with the notion that GGG won the first fight. To this day I absolutely don't understand what the hell people were watching. I completely disagree with the notion that Canelo ran too. Complete nonsense. Canelo clearly won the first fight, maybe not 118-110 like Byrd has it, but definitely a clear win.
In fact the second fight was closer to me than the first, but still a Canelo win. Canelo should have knocked GGG out in the second fight, by round six he had put a massive beating on GGG and GGG was gassed and out of breathe from the body shots and the pressure. He was ready to go, but Canelo has stamina problems himself, I'm petty sure that in fact even at 38/39 GGG will have more stamina than Canelo. It's the reason his fights are closer than they should be because he is by far the superior skilled fighter, just that he has to take too many breaks in order to conserve his stamina.
So yes, Canelo definitely waited out GGG, but that doesn't change the fact that he outboxed him twice.

nah, that is nonsense
Golovkin fans continually repeat that nonsense, but that does not make it true
pacfans used to blame Mayweather for delaying that fight...
... but they could never explain why Manny did not simply call Floyd's bluff, and take the harmless blood test... just like everyone else

Ring TV.com: If you could, for a moment, could you specifically address the notion of fighting Andre Ward and/or Miguel Cotto or Canelo Alvarez?
Gennady Golovkin: I have big respect for Andre Ward. He has accomplished many things in the ring. My focus is to fight at middleweight unless there is a big fight at 154 or 168 that would be on pay-per-view. I think both Canelo and Cotto are warriors in the ring. They both have big hearts and both would be a big event and pay-per-view fights.

"Cotto-Canelo takes place at a catch-weight of 155-pounds. Canelo has never fought above 155. Cotto has never fought at the full middleweight limit. He fought Daniel Geale at 157 and Sergio Martinez at 159. Cotto stated in past interviews that all of his future opponents would be subject to a catch-weight.....
"I'm champion of 160, middleweight is my comfortable weight. For what [reason would I do a catch-weight]? For business or for what? I'm a boxer. I'm the champion of the middleweight division," Golovkin said."

but wait, there is more...
a few months after totally refusing to negotiate on weight with Cotto and Canelo... Bullshltkin stated that he is willing and able to fight at 154, but nobody will step up....
but wait, there is more...
Bullshltkin was " perfectly open to the idea " of defending his titles against Rosado at 158...
Cotto fought Martinez at 159, and Geale at 157... Golovkin would have landed the Cotto fight at 158... the same weight he was willing to fight Rosado
dude, Cotto weighed 153 in CONSECUTIVE fights with Geale/Canelo... he was clearly a JMW who was punching above his weight
real boxing fans know that genuine SUPERSTARS are not expected to hand any kind of advantage to unproven hypejobs, especially weight... and according to HIS OWN WORDS just a few months later, Golovkin could have taken those fights whenever he wanted (see video above for proof)...
... Golovkin certainly removed himself from contention when he totally refused to negotiate on weight with Cotto... that shlt was ridiculous, what was he thinking? ... and when he walked away from the Canelo fight over weight, he resigned himself to the fact that he would have to wait for Canelo to move up
it is ridiculous to blame Canelo under those circumstances... and NO, it had nothing to do with the belt... Bullshltkin was willing to defend against Rosado, and he still totally refused to negotiate on weight AFTER Canelo vacated the WBC strap
also, Canelo fought Golovkin in his very first fight at middleweight... despite it being very common for fighters to take tuneups at a new weight so their body can adjust to a different camp... like Andre Ward did when he moved to 175... which completely blows your "waited for him to get old" theory out the window
don't listen to that fanboy nonsense man
one of those guys lied to his fans for YEARS... Golovkin ran around for YEARS saying he would fight "anyone from 154-158"... but when shlt got real, he killed FOUR HUGE fights over weight... Cotto, Canelo, Ward at 164, Froch at 166... the 164/166 for Froch/Ward were obvious show-stoppers
what were they thinking ? LMAO
Golovkin could not make a fight with anyone... are you going to blame Canelo for that as well?Last edited by aboutfkntime; 06-02-2020, 06:12 AM.

Canelo had do not fight GGG in his first fight at Middleweight, Canelo had been fighting for years at Middleweight. Middleweight begins at 155lbs to 160, therefore Canelo has been fighting for years at Middleweight.
Can't believe you're criticising GGG for refusing to come down to 155lbs while supporting that Caneloweight bullshiieet, and you have the nerve to pass yourself off as the objective, informed one? **** outta here! You're the kind of toxic fan that's wrong with this sport.
Canelo hid at Caneloweight for years to avoid both the top competition at 154 and 160, and you out here acting like that shieet was legit, and that GGG should have bowed down to that shieet? **** outtta here!
This wasn't a friendly fight, they were fighting for the wbc Middleweight belt. GGG had a mandatory shot, he wasn't begging for the fight, he had a legitimate right to fight for that belt, and therefore didn't have to support that cowardly Caneloweight crap.
If Cotto and Canelo can't fight at the full 160lbs, then they should have dropped the belt. This is even worse because Canelo actually fought Chavez at 164lbs but complained again about fighting GGG at the 160 limit, just further proof that all these antics we're about stalling and waiting out GGG.
I'd you say Cotto and Canelo couldn't fight GGG, their mandatory challenger at 160, then they should have dropped the belt because clearly they don't deserve to be champions in the division. In fact, they should be treated as if they were never champions at that point and seeing as your excuse is that they were not middleweights. Can't have it both ways. You can't claim your boy was a legitimate Middleweight champion while in the same breathe claiming that it's unfair for him to have to fight mandatories at the Middleweight limit.
Also, further proof that Canelo was waiting GGG out, Canelo actually agreed to fight GGG at the full Middleweight limit. That was the reason why the wbc allowed him to fight Cotto ahead of GGG in the first place, that he would fight GGG immediately after, at the full limit.
Then Canelo went back on his word and asked for tune up where he fought Amir Khan. Lol, as if Amir Khan is a proper tune up to prepare for GGG. It was clear at that point your boy had no intention of fighting GGG.
The wbc and GGG were lenient again on him, despite him going back on his word and asking for a tune up (another clear indication of waiting GGG out), but after Amir Khan was he was ordered to fight GGG, he three a tantrum and threw the belt in the bin, acted like he was being unfairly rushed to fight GGG despite the fact that the ONLY reason he got the title shot in the first place was on the AGREEMENT that he would fight GGG next, despite the fact that when the time came to fight GGG, he was given MORE TIME again by the wbc and GGG when they agreed to give him a tune up. Despite being afforded so much time, he still threw the belt in the bin and complained about not being given enough time. BULLSHIEET!!!!
The final nail in the coffin is that even after dropping the belt and letting GGG become champion, Canelo still later on fought GGG at the full Middleweight limit, for the belts. He let go of the 155 stipulation and fought him at the limit some two years later, proof that he was trying to wait him out all along and fight him when he thought GGG was slipping. That Jacobs fight sure gave him a lot of balls didn't it?
Don't come here with your revisionist history man. We know our history.
Mandatory challengers don't have to accept no catchweights. Gtfoh!
No person who supports that Caneloweight crap has any credibility whatsoever.

you are just another gggoofball
welcome to boxingscene btw, although... we have enough excuse-making clowns already
anyone who thinks that Miguel Cotto was a middleweight, should not be here
a genuine middleweight prepares himself to weigh up to 160, in order to fight a middleweight opponent... Canelo had never done either of those things... and neither had Cotto
the guy that you refer to as a middleweight... had never weighed more than 155, and had never faced a middleweight opponent... and I will say again... Cotto weighed 153, so your argument is just plain ridiculous
155 is 1lb over the JMW limit man, that is a world away from 160... there is a reason why they have divisions in boxing, why suddenly pretend that reason does not exist? ... the fact is, Canelo could still make 154, as he proved with Smith late 2016
in today's boxing climate, a guy who can make 154 and be healthy for 12 rounds is NOT a middleweight... so stop being ridiculous
that silly 155 argument should have died at the Smith weigh-in back in 2016... which is how we know you are a gggoofball... because you guys NEVER smarten up
it was obvious that 155 Canelo would be better/stronger at 160... so it is impossible to refer to 155 Canelo as a genuine middleweight... that point is painfully clear
1) If 155 is middleweight, then why did Golovkin refuse to fight Canelo at "middleweight"?
2) Seriously, what genuine middleweight weighs 155? Name one?
that is a actual question... so, waiting...
that is just silly casual fan 'boxing-by-numbers' nonsense... this is not a maths game, they have divisions for a reason
3) Middleweights weigh up to 160, and they fight other middleweights.....
FACT: Canelo had never weighed above 155
FACT: Canelo had never faced a middleweight opponent
it is just ****** to suggest that Canelo was a middleweight
I told everyone that he would be better at 160
" middleweight is 160.... this is boxing " ~ Gennady Golovkin
anything below 160, and above 154... is a catchweight
why the fcuk are you crying about catchweights?... lil'G offered to defend against Rosado at 158... then he tried to drain Ward to 164, and Froch to 166 LMAO

You won't hear a single, not even a SINGLE media analyst, commentator, or current/former boxer that supported Canelo on this.
Not a single one!
Why?
Because they all know it's BULLSHIEET!
Canelo was hiding at Caneloweight.
EVERYONE knows this!
You say that Canelo needed time to prepare to fight at the full Middleweight limit? Further proof that you're either delusional or are taking butt shots from Canelo. If he needed to prepare his body for the full limit of 160, then why the **** did he fight Amir Khan at 155lbs? Is that him preparing to fight at the full 160 limit? BULLSHIEET, and you know it!
And you contradict yourself again. You say no full fledged Middleweight can make the 154 limit, if that is the case, then why did you expect a full fledged Middleweight in GGG to make 155lbs?
You wanted him drained? You admit you wanted him drained?
Lol, you don't even hear yourself do you.
Fact is, Canelo's plan was to drain GGG, when that failed, he implemented plan be which was to wait out GGG.
Do you want further proof that your boy was playing weight games?
Lol, how emabrassing is this. Are you aware that Canelo actually complained about the 155lbs catchweight and asked for 156lbs catchweight for the Cotto fight. Lol, think about it, he complained about 155lbs catchweight for Cotto fight, said he prefered the higher weight of 156lbs, but then after Cotto he turns around and demands 155lbs for GGG.
So when the guy is smaller, he wants a higher weight, and when the guy is bigger, he wants an even smaller weight than the one he had against the smaller guy.
You literally can't make this shieet up! Lol, and you out here defending this guy?
This guy, same guy demanding GGG go down to 155lbs, literally jumped all the way to Super Middleweight to fight Chavez jnr but for some reason wouldn't fight GGG at the smaller weight of 160lbs before that?
By the way before your fanboyism kicks in and you try to deny it, here is the proof
