I used to watch boxing on a weekly basis. Now it's more like once a month at best. It's the quality. The talent pool isn't as deep. The fighters aren't willing to face top opposition. Yes, boxing is a business, but if you take away the "sport" part, I'm not watching. Today's fighters think they are making public appearances to their adoring fans. I want to see a real fight.

And, of course, the less popular something becomes, the less popular it becomes. An electrifying presence in the sport would help, but there’s currently no one like that.

The thing that this promotion team overlooked is, the weather may not be all that nice this early in NYC in May. As the sun goes down, there's a good chance that it will get chilly out.

Boxing has definitely changed, nobody who loves the sport can deny that. My personal belief is has changed badly. I'm not a fan of fighters and managers refusing to accept when they come out the wrong side of a fight. It's disgusting to see a fighter try to change the fundamental reasons why they lost. Yanks do seem to be the poorest of losers. I don't watch as much as I use to now but like an above comment said, we just don't have the boxing your way out of poverty like years gone by.
