Comments Thread For: The slow but sure rise of Jack Catterall to headline status

When the bell rang to end Jack Catterall's rematch with Josh Taylor in May, he and his team were certain that he had done enough to even the score with his rival. Still, experience taught them not to take anything for granted.

    "Sure rise"

No one is talking about this fight how many even remember Catterrall Prograis is next week?

Plenty of tickets being sold 1st tier, 2nd tier no tickets which means it will be closed off and sponsors giving away free tickets

Although Jack Catterall is a very good/effective fighter he's not entertaining.
His opponent used to be very effective in his matches, but Regis Prograis has lost a bit of his fighting ablility.
His last two outing against Zorrilla, and Haney were very difficult for him, winning a split decision, and losing a unanimous decision.
Catterall has won all of his fights except for his controversial split decision loss to Josh Taylor which Catterall avenged 2 years later.
Their rematch took 2 years to happen, because Taylor postponed, and ducked him for that long.
Based on those factors Catterall should beat Prograis by decision, because Catterall isn't a puncher, he's a boxer.

Listen the boy was robbed in one of the biggest upsets. Fine. You didn't get the immediate rematch but at this point stop holding this boys hand. He should been in another title fight by last year. Soon as Lopez beat Taylor he should had lined up a fight with Lopez or Subriel Matias. This fight makes no sense. I mean it's a good resume builder but what's the point of building your resume with out a title ? He's not popular enough to do that. He's number #2 WBC and WBO. Stop with the bs and get him a title fight.

Jack wasted a lot of time with Taylor. Multiple postponements, Covid and then a bad decision. Regis best days are behind him and it has shown that if a fighter has good legs like Jack has he is ineffective.

Very odd how a guy who has been #1 in the IBF for over a year never pushed for his title shot, a title shot that's going to Richardson Hitchins. And now Catterall is wasting even more time fighting a washed-up Prograis. Sad career so far. We want to see this fight as much as we want to see Nancy Pelosi in a thong bikini.

My thoughts exactly. He was IBF #1, but declined the shot against Matias.

Cat knows his depth but I've seen much worse. Rooroo has a chance. Tank shooting fish in a barrel. Boots shooting rerun.

It's crazy. Eddie Hearn leaves me shaking my head 60% of the time. It's like he can only manage one fighter at a time.

That should be Catterall fighting Paro Down Under instead of Hitchins facing Paro in PR. I wonder why Catterall is so reluctant to push for his shot.
