What once was boxing's marquee division has crumbled into pieces of failed negotiations, tight-fisted promotion, protective decision-making and barely beyond-anonymous names.

This right here is the perfect definition of the WW landscape “What once was boxing’s marquee division has crumbled into pieces of failed negotiations, tight-fisted promotion, protective decision-making and barely beyond-anonymous names.”
It is beyond absurd. 4 guys available to fight each other but fights aren’t happening.
Barrios is about to fight PAC! Damn!
The welterweight division is also pretty shallow. Not a whole lot of recognizable names there and the ones I recognize are the ones only hardcore fans will know.
WW is broken. No shhiitt Sherlock. Tell us something we don't know. Discussions have been raging on this forum for weeks. Everybody wants these fights to be made but prima donas are avoiding getting a loss on their record by just asking for too much money, even though all of them are unknown to the general public and even the casual boxing fans.
It's insane, the insatiable appetite of boxing fans. Let's reflect a bit, shall we?
The last big Welterweight fight was Spence Vs Crawford (2023). Before that, Manny vs Floyd (2015). Before that, De La Hoya vs Floyd (2007). Before that, De La Hoya vs Whittaker (1997). Before that, Leonard vs Duran (1980).
That means, there have been 5 Mega Fights at Welterweight over the last 45 years.. that's one every nine years.
We just saw this eras Welterweights fight each other, and it conclude with Spence and Crawford. Can we please have some patience with the development of this new era?
Fighters sign with matchroom for the big money and easy fights. Eddy fixed himself, pimping ain't easy. He signed Boots for big money, he won't endanger his investment until he recoups, The problem is he has to sell this to us. Penny pinching at my expense? I'll read about Carolyn.

New era, eh?
I don't see the situation improving when the fundamental economic drivers r*e*t*a*r*d the frequency of the best fighting the best. So your suggestion to have patience is a bit like telling a starving guy, "Hey, stop complaining, you had a steak dinner two years ago".
I don't know what the answer is.
It would help if the fighters themselves made these fights at least as much of a priority as they seem to make holding out for that unicorn payday.
My two cents.
Spence left WW because Boots was fighting in this division. Crawford left as well to face other champions and make history. Both Spence and Crawford did not want to face Boots. He provides too tough of a fight for them at this stage in their careers. The WW division would be revived if all of the email champions fought each other. People are afraid to lose their "0s". The same would happen to 154 if Boots went to that division. No one will fight him in that division as well. The promoters and greedy fighters have changed the way boxing is perceived these days.
Canelo can change this by accepting the Benavidez and Morrell fights and taking his beatings like a man. If the top dog in boxing were to get some balls then it would trickle down to the smaller and lesser known fighters and boxing would be more popular again.
