    Canelo has very underrated defense

    I rewatched Canelo - Bivol like 10th.

And, when Bivol had him on the ropes and everybody in the crowd was like "wow, Bivol is hurting him badly"....Canelo excavated all Bivol`s shots and he was not hurt at all.

That is why Bivol didn`t keep on coming, he had second thoughts, because Canelo was just fine.

That is why I can`t understand why you all think Benavidez hurts Canelo so easily. Canelo is not that easy to hit clean, while Benavidez is always here for taking.

Canelo not fighting Benavidez in is a big mistake IMO.

He’s like James Toney. Best in the game at riding shots and countering rn

thjs is why he beats Beterbiev

Yup his defense is not that of someone who prances around the ring running to avoid shots he does it with actual skill upper body movements, head movements and is one of the best at doing it.

Many people that, really don't analyse boxing in-depth 'Or do not have much knowledge of past boxing era's, and fighters. They believe that defense consist of standing 10 meters away from your opponent, having good movement and being out of range'.

I have said this before 'Fighters like Tyson Fury, really don't have a great defense. Not to the level of Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather and I would say Canelo Alvarez'.

Alvarez's defense is integrated into his offense, that one of the reasons why? I rate his inside game, as his best overall fight attribute.

All of the greatest defensive fighters, were great 'Because their defense was almost simultaneously integrated into their offense'. Alvarez has that same type of inside game, which Floyd Mayweather Junior, Bernard Hopkins, James Toney and Mike Tyson had also in their game.

Note: In other threads, I have also stated that 'Benavidez stylistically is straight up Alvarez's street'. Benavidez is most likely going to confront Alvarez's inside game directly, and apply serious pressure in that fight. In that style of fight, I don't believe Benavidez will be able to win rounds consistently vs Alvarez.

Benavidez's offense and defense is not integrated to a very high level 'Benavidez is not a sophisticated fighter, he is a fighter who I estimate is fighting two full weight classes below his more natural fighting weight. And this has been one of the major factors why he has been able to bull certain fighters at 168 pounds'.

Alvarez's defense is underrated by people who, don't really know what a high level defense is 'For me? Defense is not standing 10 meters away from your opponent, and just being out of range'.

When Tyson Fury fought Wladimir Kiltschko 'Fury's distance control and movement was great. But his defense was nothing great, when push come to shove? Fury still in that fight produced all the classical unforced errors he still makes today on the inside. Fury's defense is good, but not to the level that his hardcore fans and media have tried to portray'.

A high level defense for me 'Is a fighter who has the capability to move into offensive range, and still invade his opponents attacks and then initiate his own offense. That is a high level sophisticated defense'.

Canelo Alvarez has that type of ability 'It is not quite at the level of Floyd Mayweather Junior's, but it is still way more developed than most of his nearest competition' etc.

You've made the same thread a thousand times now just in a slightly different iteration than before. Bivol good. Bivol real good. No way Benavidez can do what Bivol did cause Bivol good. We get it, you're the only one who knows Bivol is really good or thought he would beat Canelo .

Canelo's defense is not underrated at all. Most people know he has a good defense. What Canelo didn't do off his defense in that fight was generate any offense. He didn't counter Bivol effectively so he was moving his head but losing rounds. I think his defense is actually more impressive and useful when he comes forward and pressures.

Benavidez' defense is actually good as well, but a lot of hardcore boxing fans seem to think because a fighter looks or fights a certain way that can't be true. He's effective at blocking and slipping punches and actually being aware of what's coming back. Come forward fighters are all one dimensional sluggers.

That's why people have been predicting against Beterbiev since the Gvozdyk fight, not wanting to acknowledge he's a superior boxer and thinker to everyone he's fought. The same thing will happen with Benavidez until we get to that point in a couple years where doubters will be like "oh, Benavidez really is that good!"
