Guess I'll be the first to say it in this thread, but Shakur should have taken Haney's offer to fight for undisputed at lightweight. 25 in one fight and then he holds all the belts and has all the cards if he can beat Haney. But he wasn't confident, and then he had that stinker of a fight vs DLS. Duckers don't get shots without building themselves into moneymakers first.

As a fan of Stevenson, and someone who doesn’t like Haney at all…Bill is right on this one. Stevenson has been brought up really slow and safe even though he’s looked better than Haney. I think he’s looked better than Haney because Haney is fighting better opponents. And that’s what happens when you fight good fighters.

Stevenson’s last fight is still on people’s mind also, where he played it slow and super safe vs DLS. While in Haney’s last fight vs Prograis, he showed up big time.

So I can see how the Haney’s feel like fighting Stevenson isn’t in the cards right now. It’s just not an attractive fight yet. I hope Stevenson bounces back and starts adding better names on his resume. But so far he’s moving at a snail’s pace and Haney is bolting through his career. Completely different paces. Haney has the much better career so far and should have his eyes set on much bigger fights than Shakur Stevenson. And I think Stevenson would’ve beaten Haney at 135 btw.

Bob seems to be doing that to keep him on TR. If he fights more frequently he can leave. If he gives him better opponents, he has to pay him more.

He should’ve made the Valdez fight earlier for Shakur. He should’ve had Loma fight him instead of making Loma v Kambosos.

Instead he makes these worthless In between fights where Stevenson fights to make sure he doesn’t get upset and cost him a bigger fight.

Shakur just needs to leave TR as soon as he can.

It sure does need a CZAR , I nominate myself for the job. We'd be getting the fights that we want to see and fair judging too.

Nobody is getting their ass whooped if those guys fight. That fight will stink.

I still think Stevenson has a higher ceiling for the long term, but your observation is accurate IMO. So Haney's accomplishments up to now have earned him the right to tell Stevenson to get in line. Stevenson avoiding risk by declining to fight Haney at LW was a mistake. I hope Stevenson's future career decisions won't reflect his conservative ring style. He still needs a breakout fight. And he's not gonna get it from an aging Loma.

Haney vs Shakur are two of the slickest, best movers in the game. I like to see it.
