DECISION: CLOSE (0-9), CLEAR (10 - 18), WIDE (19+)
KO: EARLY (1-4), MID (5-8) or LATE (9-12)

10 ROUND FIGHTS:

DECISION: CLOSE (0-8), CLEAR (9 - 15), WIDE (16+)
KO: EARLY (1-3), MID (4-6) or LATE (7-10)



Examples of the ways you can state your decision:

PICK EM CREW, Sanchez KO, Mid x5
PICK EM CREW, SMITH DEC CLOSE x3
PICK EM CREW MUNDO KO LATE

If no multiplier is specified in your pick (ie x2, x3) then it will be assumed that no multiplier is being used (x1)
If you wish to pick a Draw result, simply state your Username, both fighter names and DRAW, ie:

PICK EM CREW, BETERBIEV SMITH DRAW

NOTES:
-Picking the correct winner earns 20 pts
-Picking the correct method earns 10 pts
-Picking the correct detail is worth 10 pts
-Draws are worth 150 pts. A perfect pick without a multiplier is 40pts.

-CLOSE is 9 or fewer pts difference, eg 116 - 112, 116 -113 115 - 113 or closer. CLEAR is 10 - 18 pts difference, eg 117 - 111 or below on all three cards WIDE is 19 points or over ie an average of 117 -111 or above on all three cards

-If you'd like to change your pick before the fight starts, post in this thread to do so. Ideally tag me so that I don't miss it.

-2X doubles your points and 3X triples your points x5 multiplies your points earned by 5. Everyone starts with 8 doubles 4 triples and 2 x5s to use throughout the year. Multipliers may only be played on the bookies underdog in any fight as indicated on the first post of each Pick Em thread bolded under the section entitled 'betting odds'.

Okay gents, so here we are again the very first Pick Em of the new year and honestly one I'm quite looking forward to. Artur obviously a solid favourite but the man is gettting up there in age and Mundo has looked pretty covincing so far at the new weight... never understoof how he was able to make 168 so long anyway given his height and frame.

Apologies to all for the lack of a masterhtread... hstarted it and had been aiming to get it up before I did this thread but just had some stuff come up that means I'm likely to be busy the rest of the day so I might not get to it till tomorrow.

For returning players obviously the big news is that we're now splitting the year into 3 seasons (I decided to call em rounds0 with prizes awarded to the top threee players after 4, 8 and 12 months, with an additional larger prize to the player with the highest total score accross the full year - who will also be declared 2024 Champion.

The 3 rounds shall be defined as

1st Jan 2024 - 30th April 2024
1st May 2024 - 31st August 2024
1st September 2024 - 31st December 2024

Scoring wise and others rules we're only looking at one significant change for 2024... planned to bring it in last year but given the various disruiptions due to my health issues it never got implemented. Over the course of each 4 month round we're going to keep a running tally of the number of perfect picks made by each player and at the end of the 4 month period the players with the most perfect picks will be awarded bonus points based on their relative number of perfect picks:

The player with the most perfect Picks will be awarded 50 additonal points
2nd will be awarded +40
3rd will be awarded +30
4th will be awarded +20
5th will be awarded +10

All other players will receive +0

In the event of ties all players with the same number of perfect picks will be awarded the full amount according to their ranking.

IN terms of multipliers we're using the same system as 2023 - ie that optional multipliers can only be played on the bookies' underdog (defined as +100 or greater US style odds)

For each 4 month season - which I expect will include 20 - 30 fights - each player will receive optional multipliers to spend on underdogs as follows:

1 x5 multiplier
2 x3 multipliers
3 x2 multipliers

IMPORTANT NOTE: Unused multipliers WILL NOT be carried over from Round to Round throughout the year. ie if you have a x3 and a x2 left on April 30th those will be considered null and you will start again on 1st May with 3 x2s, 2 x3s and 1 x5.

For any new players a full rules et will be forthcoming in the next day or two - please keep your eye open for a stickied thread entitled (NSB PICK EM 2024 MASTERTHREAD) but in the meantime fell absolutely free to just ask other players or any of the Pick Em Crew for clarifications or explanations of how the game works.
