If he doesn’t fight Benavidez in September, then he can’t be defended. Nope.
What do you mean saving? You mean age himself out? that would be dumb, since when do you get to just save the guy who actually earned the fight for last while fighting opponents who have done nothing? thats why the sport is garbage these days. That concept is trash. If he choses mungia its a blatant duck, just like Jermall was.

"Saving" in context of the PBC deal he made. Everyone under the sun - even Canelo - knows David is THE fight to make, and it would make the most sense to save the best for last. If he chooses David second and gets smashed, his stock plummets. Losing to David on his last contracted fight would sting, but it would be less venomous overall.

Yes, he has ducked David and continues to duck, but I am willing to wait and see if he can make amends during this three-fight deal before completely writing him off. Prior evidence suggests he won't, but we'll see.

Not sure it really makes a difference either way. I'm of the mind that part of his deal would be to fight Benavidez within that deal. Both sides have engaged in questionable behavior, but you'd have to be monumentally ****** not to include that stipulation considering the money it would generate and the money they'd lose if he fought some other non-starter instead. Or maybe Canelo sold them a load of horse pucky and they bought it, I don't know. Again, we'll see.

The problem is that he is aging himself out, and 1 whole year is a long time for his body, going through 2 other fights when it would benefit to fight David asap which would have been the first fight. The delay imo just proves he never intends to fight Benavidez.

If Canelo has a 3 fight deal with PBC it makes no sense that he would fight Munguia next. Why would they agree to that?

Not unless PBC signs with DAZN.

A video of talking heads giving an opinion on YouTube, with a brief reference to "our source out of Mexico" right at the beginning. Lame content.

Great point. PBC isn’t going to sign Canelo to a 100+ million dollar 3 fight contract and have a fighter from another promotion be one of those 3 opponents.

You always leave out the part where if Benevides had the professionalism to make weight and pee clean every time out, a Canelo/Benevides fight would have happened already.
