Traditionally we've always had decent Flyweights come out of the Isles stretching back to Jimmy Wilde (best British boxer ever in my humble opinion) & including Jackie Brown, Peter Kane, Jackie Peterson, Rinty Monaghan, Charlie Magri, Duke McKenzie, Dave McAuley and even the Robbie Regan/Francis Ampofo bouts.
But having a look at the fighters now (listed by Boxrec at Flyweight) there's only 9 boxers listed & all but one have had 15 or less fights. The one with more is 36 year old Chris Edwards whose record is 17(4)-14(3) with 4 draws.
What happened? Are British people getting bigger? Are there no 8 stone men walking around anymore? British boxer is fairly healthy so why are the Flyweights so barren?
