Sometimes the punch was not that special but their best anyway. I like to talk about really special editions of punches fighters owned.

When a fighter only has one big punch, and especially when he is known as a one-handed fighter, that punch is almost invariably the lefhook. From Joe Frazier to Gerry Cooney to Tommy Morrison--anywhere in boxing, when a one-handed fighter makes it far, that one punch of theirs must be pretty special. Food for thought. Elementary, my dear Watson.

Tyson was the rarest breed of special puncher who throws every type of punch hard. Most of Tyson's weaponry was special. His straight right and his lefhook were heavy cannon, but also his up jab was strong and damaging. His uppercut almost saved his bacon in the long count with Douglas.

D'amato was not quite through polishing his diamond, he hadn't taught it to deal with tall boxers on the ropes who only wanted to tie you up or how to fight inside. Forget about Cus not being there to steer Tyson clear of the frenzy we witnessed, he was not even there to put the finishing touches on his protoge. Rooney the understudy was good at implementing what Cus had invented so far, but no inventor himself, and the people Tyson hired after Rooney could be eternal court jesters at the afterlife version of the Boxing Hall of Fame.

For me, Lewis' right hand was the 'go to' punch.

Also Foreman's showed a lot of power in those looping punches. Amazing but often they appeared to be arm punches but still could take a man's head off.

With Razor it was an awkward left hand. Sometimes a cross between a hook and uppercut.

                Agree about Golota lol
