Meldrick Taylor vs Pernell Whitaker at 147

The Taylor that fought Davis and the Whitaker that fought McGirt the second time. I don't see Whitaker dropping Taylor. So who do you got?

Whitaker embarrasses Taylor at 147. Possible shutout.

Not sure why you wouldn't make it for 140, where both men were better. I'd go with Whitaker because although he was also a bit past his best Taylor was a broken man at that point.

Meldrick could cause problems, but I still fancy a UD by Whitaker

All I can say is it is an interesting fight that I thought about and wondered why didn't it happen , yes I know they were former teammates but so were Tillman and Holyfield , Lacy and Taylor .
I also wonder why not post these in the fantasy fights section.

Whitaker by UD at both 140 and 147. The fight is better at 140, both guys were better there. Taylor had some good wins at 147 after Chavez but lost more from the move up in weight (and punishment sustained) than Whitaker seemed to.

Taylor gives Whitaker problems with his handspeed and activity but ultimately Whitaker's superior intelligence and defense would be the key. Whitaker was far from an inactive guy in there either, he had a good workrate too.

sometimes fast boxers that move around respect eachother far to much and it turns into a hit and run pity pat fight. That is until ones tank goes empty.

Meldrick gives him a good challenge in the first 6-8 rounds splitting rounds I believe but then after that I say it's a complete shutout for Pernell late in the fight after Pernell adjusts. Pernell UD. Just on a different level.

Whitaker would shut Taylor's offense down with his Southpaw stance & defense, not right down, but enough to win the fight.

At 147 Pea no doubt. Too much skill and smarts, and Mel was kinda gone by then.

At 140 with a pre-Chavez Mel, and a fresher Pea it's one hell of a fight. Pea's style gives fits to anyone, but I believe Taylor's style is the style to give fits to Pea. Angles, speed, aggression, and Pea would not be able to punish Mel, at least not until later in the fight. What aaaaaa fight! Gotta go with Pea, but I would not be too surprised if Mel got the decision.
