The EBU has stripped Frenchman Daniel Blenda Dos Santos of its light heavyweight title. Dos Santos was all set to defend the title against Bradley Rea (a late sub for Shakan Pitters) on April 4 at the York Hall in London but pulled out just hours before due to illness.
In February, Dos Santos (pictured right) was set to defend the title against Pitters, the mandatory challenger, but failed the brain scan.
Due to the uncertainties around his health, the EBU has decided to strip Dos Santos, 22-1 (10 KOs), of the title and appointed Birmingham’s Shakan Pitters, 20-2 (7 KOs), and Stretford’s Bradley Rea, 20-1 (10 KOs), to fight for the vacant belt.
It should be noted that Pitters (pictured left) pulled out of the rescheduled April 4 date against Dos Santos due to an injury when Rea stepped in.
Pitters vs Rea will go ahead on a GBM Sports event with date and site to be announced.
