Why wear 16oz gloves when you don't wear them in competition? I think 12oz is the limit. I wear 10oz because you need to be use to punching in the one's you compete in. Years ago I had 16oz and got use to the big overblown pillow cushions and boxing with them. i found it made it difficult when fighting. The way you land punches and the surface area, everything is different. Bxoing is all about manual dexterity and I think some 16oz seriously impair that.

Advice on glothes/mitts...

Hate to bump an old thread but really not concluded much here despite some peoples best efforts.
I'm 135 lbs and have a 25kg heavy boxing bag. I'm probably JUST going to be using this, and NOT sparring (though slightly possible later). I have mitts that came with it, but don't see why they ship mitts as my hands cane after using them.
Severl people here have said even on a heavy bag and not sparring, use 16 oz's. This does seem slightly over the top given I'm 135 lbs, and it's pretty much just on a bag.
Plus here people advise 4 oz on a heavy bag, for a MW.
So surely I'd be roughly the same.
Please can someone help roughly conclude this once and for all.
