This channel will learn you, all you need to know about Lions and maybe some other big cats. Lions even if they naturally live in a pride can and will survive on their own, it happens in the wild 'Where Male Lions spend long periods of time alone, they may join up with other nomad Lions' then try and form a pride themselves. 'I don't really think some animals should be kept as pets, I don't even like the word pet'.
If you keep a animal it is apart of the family.
Note: There are a lot of videos on the channel, he speaks a lot about the psychology of Lions/big cats and even Hyena's.
Some animals keep their natural instincts more, Cats in general are not fully domesticated LIKE dogs even though they have lived among-st humans pretty well 'They keep their instincts'. It is like most things in life I suppose, some people are more likely to conform and deny their instincts in comparison to others 'It is the same in the animal kingdom'.Last edited by PRINCEKOOL; 12-03-2019, 12:48 PM.

I want to start my response with this situation. A world class zoo had raised this animal up from a baby, and the head of the zoo decided that because this animal could not breed it should be eliminated from the herd. All well and good so far.
Then the head of the zoo was besieged by individuals wanting to adapt the animal. These people even included other enclosures with giraffes. This is where we get the psychopath bearing his fangs. This b@stard informed people that he was going to do the following and would not be denied: He was going to cut the animal up and...invite children, under the guise of "science in action", to watch as the animal was fed to the lions after being cut up. This b@stard would not yield despite people's protests.
To me this was an ethical breach on many fronts; when you raise an animal in captivity, you do not have the right to treat it as property, as something to discard. That is just not how our humanity is supposed to work. Furthermore, what lesson are you teaching kids? The lesson should be that as human beings, we are not animals and we show compassion for living things especially when we do not need to kill them. It would have been a fantastic lesson to show the lions feeding, explain that in the wild an animal like the girafee would probably be a meal for them, then explain that when we as humans bring in a domesticated animal, we have the responsibility to see this animal through.
And this gets to the heart of the issue for me. It has been demonstrated that many animals are capable of forming a loving relationship with humankind. The idea that these animals cannot be accomodated is nonsense. Perhaps sometimes an animal is better off in nature, but if not, animals can live with human hosts.
People like this zoo that killed the giraffee are masking psychopathic tendencies under the guise of conservation. The proof is in how determined they were to kill this animal to make a statement. As far as the danger to humans... there are well trained individuals who live to take that risk and raise animals like big cats, bears, etc... People have pet crocodiles, even komono Dragons! and a person who spent time with Hyena packs was quoted as saying, "under slightly different circumstances, Hyenas would be the primary domesticated canine and not dogs.
