It's a survival horror game really, though the second one is a bit more action-y than the first. The first one starts with a gripping and unarmed chase through unfamiliar corridors with horrific monsters leaping out at you with murder on their mind. All you can do is run. But on the second playthrough you start with all of your weapons, so you just blast the monsters to pieces!

For me Dead Space took off where the early Resident Evils left off, bring back that feeling of fear around the next corner that the recent RE lacked. Not saying RE 4 & 5 were not great games but they lack the classic fear sensation that the old one's had. If Dead Space 2 is anything like part 1 it's a must buy.

For some reason I skipped the first one, is it really necessary to play the first one. I was planning on buying DS2 this weekend.
